R7 TP's were cast and many pro's used them in their day. They use a softer metal for the pro's but they are still cast. You're not going to get a huge feel difference on well struck center shots. For them to play a scoring iron in a compact blade is because they want don't need the forgiveness in a shorter club, they misshit short clubs less often. More weight in a compact head means more constistancy, workability, contorl and easier to get through rough. Perimeter weighting is great for off center shots but terrible for workability. But you're probably not trying to work a 5i as much as a PW. PW you want to be dead on for pins tucked in nasty places. You want all the weight to be as focused on the sweetspot as possible. 5i you're not firing at pins, you're taking your medicine and playing for the safe but possibly makeable spot. Cast vs. Forged is a never ending debate but pro's play what performs, not what feels.

There were quite a few tour players using the cast RBZ Tours long (and some mids) mixed with forged short irons on tour this year. They actually increased in numbers as the season went on and it has continued into the current the beginning of 2014. So If it works for them I would n't worry about it. The slot has helped me find tighter dispersion with the mid and long irons and I am a +1.6 hdcp currently.
I am very interested in the new MCs but I must say I didn't care for the last MCs as I thought I might. They just didn't improve me from the R9TP Bs. But the RBZ Tours did.

If you read my post you'd realize I'm saying the exact opposite. TMAG had a chance to really create different lines of clubs for different players. By putting the slot everywhere they blur the lines and cloud the meaning of Tour Preferred.

Exactly! Why does the MC iron need the slot? I think someone else mentioned that the CB is the equivalent of the SpeedBlade Tour. If that's the case then just make it the SpeedBlade Tour and keep the TP line as the MB and MC. This would allow both TP offerings to be fully forged which is more beneficial to the better player than the slot would be. I think some folks think I'm a TMAG hater when in fact I'm a huge TMAG supporter. I've mentioned the number of TMAG clubs I have or currently own and the fact that my whole bag next year could be all TMAG.

That sounds perfect. A forged muscle back (no slot) forged MC (no slot). No emblem, no writing...and they can do whatever with CB's, which will prob be discontinued like last, because TM makes too many clubs that are all too similar in that design, which is why I think people are complaining. Is a MB blade designed for the 90 % of buyers people keep bringing up? I don't think so. So would have been nice to have a compact forged cavity players club as well, as they have so many other iron sets to assist via the slot or whatever they try to sell to improve your game. Not everyone wants GI, some want a truly engineered forged players club for players made by the OEM which they prefer to play, and this OEM isn't offering what others are offering. I think that's the point some are trying to make with a partial disappointment of TP line. I'm anxious to try, but I personally prefer a forged cavity. Not offered.

*QMany.....TMAG makes plenty of irons for the 90%, check out the site....if there's not enough, give it a few weeks...I'm sure there will be more;)

Been staying away from this thread since about page 5, because I could see it was going to be mostly about the badge. I see my hunch was correct.

All you guys complaining are a little disingenuous though....you all know you will try them anyway, and some of you will still buy them. And TMAG knows it...the badge is not a deal killer for the general populace, with WRX included in that.

I realize "I don't get it" regarding the badge though. #whocaresaboutthebadge #idont

That would be nice if they through us a zinger and added the TP badge at the last minute. I don't see that happening thought this close to the launch date. I'm very interested in hearing where TM will price these irons in the U.S.
