How many iron sets do you own?

Been thinking about getting a second backup set to leave in car while I leave main set at the club. Do you guys clone your main set or use as opportunity to try something different? I play mizuno mp63 which I will demote. I have been thinking about going for MP15 or TM770 as my main.

I intended to trade the Callaway against the pings, but in the end didn’t - boring but genuine reason. I’m now likely to keep them and offload the Nikes

Believe it or not Leo, that’s what my wife keeps telling me. I cannot justify keeping them. I’ve had the bag in my hand on more than one occasion headed to the dumpster. But I keep turning around and putting them back in the corner of the garage. I guess that should tell me something.

It was three, I25, Ap1 714, Jpx 825, but will soon be two.

The Ap1 714 and Jpx 825 are being sent to Callaway along with a backup driver for a new set of Rogue Pro irons.

The Rogue Pros will be my gamers and the I25 will be back up/winter clubs. At least that's the plan for now.

I currently have a nice set of Callaway Apex CF-16's in the bag that I leased about a year ago. You see, I don't own them because that would imply I will be keeping them.

It's an interesting lease option. Ends whenever I choose, trade or sale value determined by me and the other party at the time I decide to part with them, no idea at all what will replace them and no limit to the number of range sessions/rounds that I can use them. All I had to do to enter in this temporary agreement was pay a decent amount on Callaway Preowned and they were kind enough to ship them to me to start my lease.......

Total of 10 or 11 sets usually

Primary main home set,

Guest main home set,

Primary desert home set,

Guest desert home set,

Travel set,

Three or four sets of old primary special clubs kept

for nostalgia and occasional fun play. (e.g. MP-33's)

Add in wife's primary set & her backup set often used for lady guests.

Four right now but trying to reduce that number by at least one.

Another vote to keep them! If I still had my first set of First Flight irons I would never part with them. Unfortunately, a sudden cash emergency at age 16 forced me to quickly sell them to the pro shop where I then caddied. Memories...

I agree, that sounds like sure fire regret in the making.

That said, I have 4: 690.MB, MP14, FG-17, Hogan Edge GS, all purchased used. I regret selling the set I started with, some old Top Flight Plus cavity backs from the early 90's. If I regret selling those, I can't imagine how I'd feel trashing a set of old Macs.

Part of me wants to use multiple sets like I use different golf shoes based on weather. But i also think the touch and feel you get with a one set has to trump any swap benefit. In the end i think two sets is ideal Your gamer and your old gamer. If you have two old gamers then you should visit classifieds as a seller.
