It's the last year for this event in its current form, and in its current spot on the calendar, Next year, the Fed Ex St Jude becomes a WGC event, taking over the week (early August) currently held by the WGC Bridgestone at Firestone CC . in 2019-after, the event at Firestone will be the Bridgestone Senior Players Championship.

A couple of big name players notwithstanding, the OWGR SoF score indicates that this is one of the weakest fields of the year...weaker than the Valero Texas Open, which hardly seems possible. Only the Byron Nelson and Puntacana are weaker. Everyone must be in the Hamptons.

Indeed -- On Monday, the OWGR site gave the St Jude a Strength of Field (SoF) rating of 208. Currently, it's down to 191, thanks to those WD's. The St. Jude winner will still qualify for the WGC Bridgestone at Firestone, since that tournament invites winners of International Federation of Tours events with an OWGR SoF of at least 115 !!

If you go to the OWGR site's Events Page, you can adjust the TOUR Filter to PGA Tour, then toggle "SoF" until the tournament ranking order shown is as follows -- Players Championship (854) 1st highest, Masters Tournament (794) 2nd highest, WGC Match Play (733) 3rd highest, and so on. As it stands now, the St. Jude (191) would be down near the bottom, between Valero Texas (212) and AT&T Byron Nelson (178).

I'm disappointed to see that although Trahan and Mahan have the same start times, they will be starting on different nines. I was looking forward to a grouping of Trahan, Mahan, and Hahn.

Also, a grouping of Troy Matteson, Troy Merritt, and John Merrick might just be enough to confuse the commentators.

I'm excited about the tournament. I'm going out on Friday and looking forward to seeing some good golf. TPC Southwind is sneaky tough, so I enjoy watching the guys play it.

This course is always firm and has alot of strategic doglegs.Very tough to bomb it every hole.One of my favorite courses on tour. Super tough but fair

What a relief I saw this thread - saw the U.S. Open thread is up and was afraid they just called it good with the pro-am winner at St. Jude.

Short list of guys to watch in this event, but at least my boy DJ is there. I enjoyed the group with him, Berger and Cook yesterday

I think DJ has more foot of putts made from that putt than all day yesterday .

he is apathetic - lazy with swings, just seems disinterested like he wants to just go home.

Whatever it is...they would need a several ambulances on the grounds if there was tiger like galleries following him.
