I think they just have the off the shelf paint job. Pretty sure I remember seeing Tiger with one last year as well in his driver.

I'm confused. No 3 wood... then a UDI that's stock 17* and a 5w at 19? Surely the 3w must be out with him on the range or something and then either the UDI or 5w goes in the bag?

Really surprised to see him committing to the Spider when he was pretty bad with it last year. He looked really confident with that custom TP Juno.

Wouldn’t the 2 iron go as far As the 5-wood?

Shouldn't. The M5 series has gone back to a titanium face which should go farther. My guess is that he was hitting the 3wood too far and had to go down to a 5wood? But just my guess.

Would guess the 5 Wood is lofted down to atleast 17* and is going plenty far

Definitely could just be playing that as the Ti face is so hot

Taylormade chimed in on this in the Tiger Woods WITB. Rory hit 5 wood 5 wood to a 615 par 5, so he’s hitting it miles, longer than his 2 iron.

I will add that his “5 wood” (really a nuclear 4 wood that replaces his 3 wood) has a way different flight than his 2 iron. The 2 iron is low and spinny, whereas the 5 wood is high knuckleball territory.

I wonder then if guys could carry the "rocket 3" (lol TM, so lame) as a little mini driver? If it's really that hot I could see this maybe going in the bag as one of those clubs I pull when I'm not feeling confident in the driver, but I need more than my driving iron/hybrid distance.

I’ve seen an account on eBay selling the red cap TM putter grips.

No 3 wood in the bag this week as of now. Rory’s 5 wood is set at 17.5 but yes as TM mentioned in the other thread the 3 wood seemed to be going too far and isn’t a fit for Rory at Torrey this week.. His UDI I believe is 18 degrees but the gapping should still be fine with wood vs iron although it’s probably a half a degree difference. Looks like HZRDUS is also out of the UDI and a steel PX 6.5 is in now instead. Think it was in Hawaii too.

Big grip change for Rory again. From multi-compounds to tour velvets and now to full cords. I’ll always picture Rory has a multi compound guy though...

Not to mention the 5 wood is most likely at least 2" longer than the UDI. The M5 fairway will be much longer regardless of how close the lofts are.

I tip my personal shafts 1 inch and I'm around 122-125 with driver. Some guys however like an even stiffer feel.

Interesting to see him having the M5 set up to favour a draw. Always viewed Rory as someone who plays a little draw off the tee, didn't think that he would need any help in doing that.

Interesting that he plays a 6.5 in his UDI and his wedges. Didn't notice that before. I think he's going to have a great week, his last tournament he did well... Just couldn't do anything on Sunday. Looks like he's enjoying the game a lot more now.

Just an FYI, prob not the right topic either but just got off the phone with TM. I ordered the m5 with tensei pro white. Customer Service said that they tip based on manufacturer recommendation now. So, for the pro white, selecting standard tipping = no tipping.

Ugh...this is just going to complicate things in the short term. When I ordered my M5 3w last week (with a Pro White), I didn't have the option to go any softer than "standard." The recommended tip trim is 0.5", so I should have been able to go 0.5" soft if desired. When I was messing around with a driver and a Pro White, I could do the normal 1.0" soft (aka no tip trim).

There have been issues with settings on their custom shop in the past, so now I have even less confidence in ordering correctly. At least with the 1" trim across the board, you could figure out what to do if you knew about the tip trim practices.

Unreal I ordered m5 Fwy/Driver with Hzrdus black. Wanted it tipped an inch which I figured was standard. Now I have no clue what it will be coming in as
