Easy to launch 3wood recommendation?

Hi guys n gals!

I’m looking for a new 3wood! I’m currently gaming a 909 Titleist 3wood. I’m looking for an easy to launch from the turf.

Not looking for newest model out as I prefer to buy last gen/years models.

I saw a sweet deal for new Xr16 for like $85 bucks!

Looking to spend <$200.

Any recommendations??

Not a 3 wood but I recently picked up a Ping G400 5 wood for around $130. Looked incredibly nice at address

A 4 wood. . . 1st. Ping G25 is still tough to beat for a 3 wood, or any of the Ping G range that suits your budget.

Get a 5 wood and turn it down a couple of degrees and you will be happy.

Xr16 is very draw biased, so if that's your thing it will work well. If you want more neutral or fade biased I'd grab like a Flash 5w then open it down to 17 and play it at 42.5'' - 43''.

Callaway Epic or Rogue - so easy to hit and gets off the ground very easy from the turf

Easy to find used or on the clearance rack

TaylorMade M2 or M4 are easy to hit AND pretty cheap right now.

As mentioned above any G model from Ping is a place to start. Also try the K series. They are by far the easiest to hit off the deck of any woods. I play a K15 driver, 3 wood , 5 wood and 7 wood. I love them. They are way way under rated as they have a slicer or SGI connotation. I'm a single digit cap and I've played them since 2010. Nothing is easier.

I picked up a GBB 15* from Callaway Preowned for a good deal and have been very happy with it. Launches easily off the deck and is good off the tee.

Recently I have been hitting draws that have been tending to snap hook. Maybe I should look at the neutral/fade bias??

I picked up a new Mizuno gt180 3w and I love it. Brand new for $75, free shipping. It is so good it has replaced my driver the last few rounds. It makes a “snick” sound that is so nice.

I have the Titleist 917 F2. I find it easy to launch off the turf, much easier than the 913 I was gaming before. The sound is nice too. Since the TS’s have been out awhile you might be able to get one at a good price.

Steelhead XR. I feel like it didn’t get a lot of fanfare but I really like mine off the tee and the turf.

I’ll second the Steelhead XR recommendation. Super easy to get up, and quite forgiving. They can be had very cheap on CPO. I have 13.5 and 15 I switch out depending on how much I’ll hit it off the tee.

If you end up with an adjustable 5wd, dropping the loft will open the face and should help that a bit.

Search Ebay for an Adams Tight Lies 2 Titanium. Super easy to launch high off the turf.

Had to buy a 13.5* since even the 15* was hitting moon balls

I'm thinking to pick up one, as I like my adjustable 812 H2 hybrid. The settings can be adjusted on this guy too. right?

Most 3Ws look too closed for me, so thinking the adjustable Titleist, set open, would help launch higher while also giving confidence against the big hook. Would you recommend it based on that? Thanks.

Not a 3 wood, but I would recommend any M series 16.5 "4" wood. The extra 1.5* loft makes it much easier to launch and I have actually seen an increase in carry distance due to the ball getting up in the air more than my previous 15*.

Second the Adams XTD 2 Only one I have been able to hit consisitently off the turf.

Yeah, it is fully adjustable like the hybrids. I have mine set to B1 which puts it a little flat, but keeps the loft the same. That setting has helped me from pulling it like I did previous FWs. Give one a try and I think you’ll like it. I have a lot of confidence in it for sure.

I’d highly recommend a tour edge ex9. Those are all over the bay for cheap. That things sounds and feels amazing. And it flies. Easy off the deck and turf. I had one and regretted trading it. I was seduced by something newer...gaming a Cally epic flash now but I got an email from tour edge today that their new news exs line is on super sale. Pulled the trigger! Cally going on BST tonight!

I have a Kuro Kage silver dual core in mine and have never loved a shaft more. very consistent

Ping G410 fairways are stupid easy to elevate.

I always go back to my Tight Lies 2. I could hit a ball off the deck in my sleep with this thing

Aeroburner TP 16.5, loves a mishit and so long; no need for 15 degree.

TS2 15* with the Tensei Blue shaft. Played one when forced to rent clubs on a business trip (thanks, American Airlines). and was surprised how easy it was to hit from all conditions (tee, deck, etc.). Became my go-to off the tee that week because all it did with hit high, straight bombs. Most of the time I was outhitting guys in the group who were using their own custom-fit drivers.
