Your favorite 5wood?

I’m looking at adding a 5wood to the bag. After getting fitted for my new irons I have a bit of gap. Would love to hear your recommendations.

5 wood has been my favorite club for a few years. In fact I don't even carry a 3 wood because I hit the 5 so well I don't need the 3. I have several but my current favorite is the Cobra F8. Love the rails for good turf interaction.

This is really all subjective as everyone will chime in with their favorite 5 wood. TM M6 & Ping G410 are also good choices. Can't go wrong with any of these as far as I'm concerned.

I don't often carry a 5W, but when I do, it's the Cobra F6 Baffler 4-5W.

Need more info. What are you looking for flight wise? What is your swing like? What clubs is it going to fit between?

Titleist 915 or newer. Simply the best

Nike VR Pro Limited. While older it's a really great fairway wood (the 3 wood is as well). One of the better clubs Nike made.

+1. Love the Rails & hit it better vs other 5-woods. I think it's partly due to the Cobra F6 Baffler's slightly-shorter shaft length:

This is my 5w, it's old and tired but very dependable. Had a tour presence in Padraig Harrington, who won an Open Championship with one. My hunk of junk I would never part with.

Though you may not want to go that far back in time, the Wilson Fg tour F5 line is a very solid club that I recommend as well, especially if you value feel above all else. Either way, I think Wilson makes some very good woods that are rather underrated.

Ping G410s are adjustable and very easy to hit. Prefer the matte finish look too.

I really like my Tommy Armour Atomic. By no means am I a big hitter but I hit nice, high shots with mine that go about 210 yards. I find it to be fairly forgiving too. Whats better is that they are dirt cheap too and if you cant find the Atomic anymore, you could just buy an 845 and still spend about half of what you would on anything else.

I used to hit a steel shafted TM burner that I never missed. Then shafts got longer and I changed it and suddenly 5w was not the go to club it used to be. So I took my current F7 and shortened it. Now it’s more reliable again. Here is the point...most stock 5 woods are an inch too long IMHO. So cut them down, adjust the swing weight and see how it goes is my thought.

Cobra Baffler

I got a cobra F7 and cut it to 42" after not being able to find a baffler and couldn't be happier with it. Possibly my favorite club in the bag

I have had a Callaway Diablo Edge 5 wood for over 10 years and will NEVER get rid of it. Stupid easy to hit and for me, I can hit a ton of shots with it. I also would like to throw in the Ping G410 and Titleist 915 are pretty hard to beat.

The longest lasting 5W in my bag was the R9. That said, I love my SIM 5W and it's an absolute pleasure to hit off the deck.

another vote for the baffler. It was my only fw wood in the bag for a while. Lately I've been using hybrids only. The new SiM hybrid is like cheating. So easy to hit high and long.

Never really carried a 5-wood before, but at the urging of my teacher, swapped the 3-wood for a 5-wood last summer. Have an original Epic 5-wood with a Oban Devotion shaft and absolutely love it!

Something high flying, I’m a low ball hitter naturally. After getting fitted into the Ping I500’s 4-PW I carry my 4iron 195ish. I did get fitted in graphite shafts (love them). I’m only 38, I would say I have Very average swing speed, hurt my back about two years ago is why we went graphite. I don’t care for hybrids, always hook them.

I've been bagging a Wilson Fybrid 18* 5 wood for about 10 years now. My son stole, or is loaning my backup, and my friend had my other backup.

I have tried others, but nothing really compares to it.

The infamous NIKE SQ II fairway metal! Best 5 wood ever! Tiger Woods played it for a very long time.......that sound it made was awesome!

Oh good call, that is another classic! I still have a Tour Issue SQII 4-wood and I would love to pick up a matching 5-wood as well. Classic fairway.

What do you guys think about this build? F6 Baffler @16* with a Tensei Pro Orange 90TX. I don't use it much as it is kind of a specialty club but it is money in windy conditions.

Let me build on the love for Cobra fairways...I never got along with high lofted woods; much preferred a 2 iron off the tee. After playing a home course (in the desert) with long par 3s and approaches to par 5s, this Cobra F8+ has become the go-to. I had success with the stock NV75, but found an old Pro95 and Arccos now tells me I hit more greens with this than my 8 iron.... :-/

Agree with Valtiel being condition dependent,. Specifically the bag setup based on course is:

If 230-240 is required into greens, minimal wind--> 5WIf 230-240 is required off of tee, or high winds --> P790 UDIA course I've never played before, and need to be OK with either --> 818H2 Hybrid

If you're carrying your 4-iron about 195-ish, which is pretty good for 500s, you might want to consider how a 7-wood might fit in that area. It'll go higher and land softer, so don't be stuck on the idea of the club needing a 5 on it.

I’m definitely not. I’m actually open to both. I’ve been playing long enough to care less what it says on the club. As a old golfer once told me...there’s no place on the score card for that and he was scratch.

I had this badboy for a short time. Pretty sure it had a black and red UST ProForce (maybe V2) shaft.

Stock shaft would have been a made-for wilson Proforce V2 in black, red and silver. Plays very stiff to flex. I have X in driver and R in the woods. I'm not going to think about how that works, it's a high bomber. 3w off the tee and 5w off the deck.

That was it, lol. Had a brushed finish instead of the standard clear coat. Wilson Staff started messing around with half and half shafts around that time.
