Love this guy! So genuine. His bag is maybe my favorite on tour. If it ain't broke don't fix it! I really believe that there comes a point with clubs where you may find "different" but you will never find "better."

Wedges from three different makers. Nice touch. And different shafts in his 2 hybrids.

Am I right in saying that his setup as shown is:

Driver

15* 3w

17* hybrid

20* hybrid

5i-pw

52*, 58*, 64*?

Putter

Because that seems to leave a pretty big gap between the 20* hybrid and the 5* (assuming the hybrid really is 20* and the 5i hasn't been bent strong).

 

edit: Just checked. The 5i's standard loft is 25*. Stronger than I thought. Anyway, Kuchar seems to know what he's doing ;)

If it's standard loft, it would be 46*. That means he has 6* gaps between been his PW, 52, 58, and 64* wedges.

But that's only if the PW is standard loft and the other wedges haven't been adjusted.

Thanks. I’ve just bought 58 and 64 in the pm grind to go with my Jpx 900 forged so I’m playing pw at 45 and gw at 50 at the moment. So far it’s been pretty successful but wondering if I change up to 46 and 52 at some stage

I've said it before: Kuchar's bag always reminds me of the guy at the club you don't want to play for money. If you see that setup on the first tee and he says "what are we playing for today kid?" Just run for your life.

Loved that wedge set up, surprised more pros don't play wedges over 60* with the speed of the greens they're chipping on to. But I guess theirs are all probably much differently ground than our stock wedges, so they can make that 60* a 64* without much hassle.

 

I used the RTX3 wedges at 50 / 56 / 62 and loved them for full shots, those wedges were just miserable to chip with so I'm back with the Pings.
