Masters postponed (NO POLITICS)

Using science will not help. Scariest part of this outbreak is how many people are so flippant about it. Comparisons to the flu, swine flu, etc...are just so misguided. For those that think this is overblown, please go meet up with someone who has it, get nice and close and then go visit the elderly and immunocompromised you're close with. Please report back as to how overblown this is.

Gotcha. I sort of thought that right after I posted. I'm sure it "could" be playable during the summer if they wanted but I agree with the comment above that they'd never let the public see the course like that. Emerald green or bust.

On the bright side, I guess TW gets to keep his green jacket at home for another year.

Not an over reaction at all. If you want to see what happens when a country waits until it's too late to contain the situation, look at Italy. Doctors there are having to make decisions now on who dies and who lives. They have more medical staff and beds per capita than we do in the US, if sh*t hits the fan that's a scary thought.

I work for one of the largest health care companies in the US and we're currently caring for several patients in our system. We shouldn't be panicking, but we should be taking measures to protect our elder and unhealthy population, and that's what this is. . What makes this different is the incubation period. Swine flu's general incubation period is 2 days, this is up to 14 days. Just some food for thought, if it isn't contained and we get something like Italy around here...Mom/Dad/Grandma are done since the focus for care will be shifted to those who have the greatest chance to recover. Just be mindful of things, not paranoid, but none of the reactions are overreactions.

Going out and buying 6 years worth of TP is ridiculous, but limiting exposure with large gatherings is probably the right thing to do while this is minimal.

Yeah, I played Golf Club of Houston in October a couple years ago. It looked and played like sh*t.

You knew this was coming. But a November Masters would be okay if everything falls into place. Right now I would say its a 50% chance at best that it gets played in 2020.

Its posts like this that drive me crazy.

To date, 40 people in America have died from this virus, which is now in its third month.

40.

We've basically shut down the world's biggest economy and closed down the country because of it. 40 deaths.

This is an overreaction. Of the highest order.

There's nothing wrong with being vigilant, doing what we can to help those infected and doing our part to help stop it spread. But we've permanently damaged our economy and basically stopped our way of life for a respiratory virus that, for 95% of the public, does no more than give you mild flu-like symptoms. If you think you have coronavirus, you are statistically more likely to die in a car accident on the way to the hospital to get tested than you are to contract the virus and die from it. That's just the simple truth. Yet this disease is being portrayed as a black plague that will kill hundreds of millions of people.

Thousands of people die daily from illness and disease in this country and around the world. We don't stop living because of it. We do what we do with everything involving risk - we factor it into our daily lives and move on.

Its absurd. We should be a better country and people than this. But because we have a segment of the population (ie the media) that is consumed with fanning panic, hysteria and doomsday scenarios, we are where we are today.

I support any effort to mitigate the spread. As it states on the ticket for any sporting event - there is a disclaimer that states you attend at your own risk.

Clearly, the management team at AN determined the risk outweighed the necessity of the event being played in early April.

Nothing we can do about it.
