Big Score For TM

Medic

Recommended Posts

My wife isn't a big golf fan - likes playing it but not watching it.

But naturally I was glued to the tube watching the final round. She got interested once there was a playoff and stated "They are both playing the same driver." (Same brand but one M1 and one M2 - but she could not possibly know that)

Then, later on the first time they were playing 18 both caddies were in view with their bags and she wanted to know if all of the players got those Taylor Made bags?

My point is simple. With two TM players battling it out in the end their equipment got a lot of exposure. Those who know and love golf were "ho thinking" and were considering going and testing the TM drivers again. But even those who don't really know a lot about equipment were taking notice - if my wife was any measure of that. In my book the 2017 Masters finale was a HUGE win - for Sergio. And for TM.

Yes it will probabaly help. I thought the same thing. But just for reference they both use the M2.

Thought one of them was using an M1.

Had to chuckle a bit because my wife also said something about "their weird putters".

They both play the M2 and I noticed theirs sounded much better than many of the other TM players over the weekend. Quality of strike or more hotmelt?

yes Sir TMAG was represented for sure. Sure glad Sergio notched his first major victory and got that off his back. Hoping he can build on that.

It wasn't due to the Masters tourney, but I was in Golf Galaxy this morning and actually looked at the new p750 and p770 irons. I typically walked right on by the TM cart as they lost all credibility with me with the whole slots in the irons thing. Anyway, the new offerings look really nice. Didn't hit them, but I was pleased to see them making irons without any holes in the soles. The p750 looks solid. Really short blade length.

What I find more interesting is that even though they are both recognized as TM guys they are probably the two guys on two most invested in by Adidas specifically. Sergio has always been the face of Adidas. He wears an Adidas hat with only TM logos secondary and has an Adidas staff bag with only TM covers. Rose was also always the face of the Ashworth and now the Adipure line. It was great exposure indeed but, interesting how it might have an affect on Adidas trying to sell the TM brand.

Right now, the M line of drivers and the Spider putters must be the hottest clubs on tour. You've got Rose, Garcia, Rahm, and DJ using them for starters. Throw a healthy Jason Day into the mix (and he won the PGA with M-line clubs and the famous red its-bitsy), and that is an amazing lineup of wins/winning pros.

TM is winning right now not only with their staffers being in contention Sunday and hoisting trophies in the late afternoon but also with the spider. It says a lot when staffers from other manufacturers are gaming the spider.

Forgive my ignorance, but who not on the TM staff, is using a Spider putter?

I remember Sung Kang had one last week at the SHO and they said he just put it in the bag that week.

I found it interesting that TaylorMade came out with that new commercial where they have this whole thing on the amount of CC of water the M2 displaces. Trying to market it as a bigger club face and what not. Trying to say that it's technically legal but not really. Funny because you know they put this out in wake of the epic being the #1 sold driver in Feb and March.

Totally agree with the OP, but I don't know that it will have much effect on serious golfers, but ti will sure influence players new to the game looking to upgrade or buy their first real set of clubs. Tiger lifted plenty of trophys but Nike clubs never really caught on with established players (but in apparel they absolutely killed it thanks to Tiger). Personally I'm not a tm man, except for the 2016 tpx ball. Watching the Masters won't make me run out and buy a new M2 driver, but I'm cheap and won't be buying a new epic any time soon either, so I'm not really their target audience

Probably both. I have a 2016 m2 with 4gr of hotmelt in it and it sounds and feels fantastic.
