Pulled the trigger on a Spider Tour red w/ sightlines. Couldn't pass it up when Taylormade preowned let me get it in Mint for $163 shipped.

 

Took a lot of hunting being LH but got a deal! Excited to roll a mallet with toe hang.

Needed a toe hang putter. Fighting a face balanced putter for years really affected my play. So I found a Ray Cook SR100 (#9 Odyssey shape) with a TM Pure Roll type insert to experiment with. After using a gift card on Amazon, I got it for $17.

 

Last 18 holes with old putter - 38 putts. Last 9 hole round with old putter - 18 putts

 

Yesterday, first round with cheap new putter - 31 putts.

 

This Ray Cook may get quite a bit of run. Especially since the wife just let me get a new to me driver and 3 wood

I just bought myself my first Circle T, Newport 2 Studio Select with big cherry bombs in cavity and Circle T logo on face.

Just got a Piretti Matera on a whim. It's really good looking, but I haven't gotten used to the heavy 375 g head yet. I've been using an old ping anser 2 for years and they run really light. This thing feels like a brick on a stick to me and my feel is way off at the moment.

In my opinion the heavy heads perform much better with a heavy grip as well. Gives the putter more balance and does not feel so head heavy. For me the secret to a smooth stroke is more weight without the putter feeling heavy. That is the philosophy Stockton goes by and I think it is very effective. I had a 375-gram putter built with a 100-gram grip and a 30-gram weight four inches from the top of the shaft, under my lower hand (NOT at the very butt end of the club, which is how many CB grips are designed.)

That's really interesting. Do you know of a way I could DIY that? I hope I can find a grip that I like that's heavier, but I always end up putting a blackout ping grip on my putters. Right now it still has the stock Piretti grip. Very interested to try this out. Thanks for the info!

It was great. Although I don't have anything to compare it to, I can only imagine that is how a high-quality fitting should go. Tweaked things and adjusted the putter until it was just right, very easy going, enjoyed a beer during the fitting, and got to check out some sweet putters and headcovers in the hive. Can't wait to go back.
