I buy a new driver and 3 wood over the last few weeks, my wife doesn't care. I buy my 4th putter since October, my wife doesn't care. I buy unnecessary golf clothes, my wife doesn't care. I tell her I'm going to get a membership at OU, she doesn't care. I tell her I want to play in an outing on May 16th and another one on May 30th, and she gets mad...wtf!

Apparently I can spend as much money as I want on golf, I just can't have time to play the actual sport.

Btw I'm doing both outings. She's just going to have to deal with it.

If by OU you mean Katke(pretty sure you do), you should reach out to larrybud if you don't know him already. He's been a member there for quite some time.

Looking for some suggestions for our groups annual golf trip - I organize it and here is some background..

- We will have 8-12 guys with scores ranging from the high 80's to the 110 range.
- The last two years we did treetops (got great deals at golf show)
- The trip is usually 3-4 days with 5-7 rounds
- Most people on the trip prefer value/price over quality even though i am the opposite and usually sneak one or two premium tracks in

Here is what i have narrowed it down to based on price/distance/quality...

Gaylord Trip - Switching it up by going to different courses other than TT. I was thinking Black Bear - Tribute/Classic - Signature/Masterpiece - One more day of other courses

A-Ga-Ming - Unlimited Golf at Torch, Sundance, and The Dells (not sure of other courses in the area that we could add). As it stands would probably play all courses twice.

Lakewood Shores - Cheapest out of all choices. Same thing as A-Ga-Ming, probably play each of the three courses twice.

Mount Pleasant Area - Unsure as far as lodging but like the idea of having Casino for some of the golfers that are more casual than hardcore. Would include Bucks Run and PohlCat. I think Tullymore and St. Ives would be too pricey for this year. Would need suggestions for other tracks.

Gull Lake - Seems they have five courses that seem to be descent. Good deals as far as unlimited golf.
Appreciate the feedback. Please let me know thoughts and anything i should cross off/ or add!

Myself and a buddy are heading up there tomorrow around lunch to meet the pro, check out the facilities, etc. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get the silver this year so I have access to Sharf. If things go well, next year I'll consider the gold or platinum.

Gaylord -- Don't bother with the Classic at Otsego Club. Especially compared to the Tribute, it's a boring course. Either replay the Tribute or throw another Treetops course in there. Black Bear is okay, but nothing special. Of the ones you don't have listed, Michaywe, The Loon and The Lakes, and Black Forest (though with a group of higher handicappers, you might want to skip that one)

Shanty Creek and Hawk's Eye, and Traverse City area courses are both about a half hour drive from A Ga Ming

Lakewood shores - The Gailes is tremendously overrated, the other two courses aren't anything special. It is cheap, but the accommodations are really bare bones and there's not much to do in the area.

Best two courses at Gull Lake are the two Stonehedge courses. I'm not a big fan of Bedford Valley, but it's hosted a lot of state tournaments and stuff in the past. Gull Lake View courses are fine but nothing special.

It's a little unclear, but the main championship page on the GAM website says the max handicap is 5.4. The printed tournament entry form says combined team index can't exceed 10.8. If the second is true, a 10.2 handicap could team with someone who is 0.6 or under, but I'd check with the GAM before registering.

Last year we did 36 at Treetops; signature and masterpiece I think. Then we drove over to Shanty creek and played summit ( don't waste your time; we only played it because by the time we checked and and decided we wanted to squeeze in additional golf it was the only thing available). The next day we play the legend in the morning; very good course but somewhat target golf; I hit 3 hybrid off almost every tee box and shot 75; in the afternoon we played cedar river; this was my favorite course, can't wait to play it again this year. We got rained out the following morning, otherwise we were going to play schuss mountain. Overall it was a great trip and not too pricey considering we had a Groupgolfer deal for treetops and stayed in a co-workers condo at shanty for free.

It would so be easy to tack on a round at either the tribute at otsego or forest dunes if we wanted to play an additional round.

Hope this helps!

Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that.

BTW, Mike, where were you working? A heated shed? I'm going to be regripping soon, not sure when it's too cold to go out and work.
I was working in my garage. I have a Propane heater with a fan and then I installed a cheap ceiling fan as well to circulate the heat. It will usually warm up the garage by about 30 degrees compared to the outside temp, so on really cold days - I don't even try. But if it is 40 degrees, I can work out there in short sleeves.

I had a nice range session at the dome this evening. An hour of hitting balls with the new shafts in the irons and no pain in my hand or thumb. The last few trips when I was playing the C-Tapers, I was hurting in the first 20 minutes. And the Modus feels so amazing. I love the soft mid section - I don't feel like I have to swing hard, but I can swing hard if I want. The X definitely feels more stable to me than the Stiff without being boardy whatsoever.

I have also realized that the G30 LST is really loud. I got a few looks at the dome tonight from the guy standing next to me and then he asked me what the clubs was. I was hitting it right on the screws everytime, so I don't care how it sounds.

Sent my g25 on its way yesterday and had some anxiety doing so, man did I hit that thing consistently espescially in competition. pre-negotiated a buy back price lol.

Miles of golf has been packed this week. Today will be big with respect to playing this weekend, this temp+ sun should do some serious work on the snow.

LOL on the buyback clause -- the advantage of selling to a buddy, I guess. But the fact that you brought it down to FL and it never left the garage is a pretty good indication that the LST is here to stay. I sold mine on the BST (with the stock shaft in it), and I was surprised how much I got for it. For a (well taken care of) 2 year old driver, it retained a surprising amount of value.

Ok, so you have a bit better infrastructure than I do. I have a wooden shed with siding out in the back. Thankfully my dad was smart and told me to run some power back there, but I'm a)nervous about a heater near all the wood, and b)I need another foot of snow to melt before I can even get to it.

I assume the heat in your garage is enough for the regripping to take? Do you use solvent or compressor?

That's genius B! I will have to think about that. A buddy texted me yesterday to remind me that he still has my G25 3W in his bag from last fall. He asked how much I wanted for it. I have been hesitant to sell it incase my 915 doesn't work out. The buy back clause could be the perfect solution. Also, I have no idea what I would sell it to him for. It's in pretty good shape and has a Tour AD-DI installed. If memory serves me I got a pretty good eBay deal on it though. I want to say I snagged it for 220 bucks or something along those lines.

Quick BST Question,

I have an offer on a driver I am selling on BST. I am likely to accept the offer although the person who made the offer has no official posts and just joined on Monday. Should I be careful with selling to this person and does this raise "red flags"?

It can be a red flag, but not necessarily. You might go back to him and ask if he has an ebay ID where you could check feedback. When you sell to him, make sure you document everything -- save PMs, take pictures of the box packed up, get a receipt when you drop the package off. You can even use Paypal to generate an invoice and have him pay based on that. All of that should protect you if something happens where he files a dispute (i.e., if he's a scammer).
Edit to add: Send all of this stuff to the buyer, too. That way they know you're covering your bases.

Today better melt a lot of snow if anyone plans on playing this weekend.

It's kind of weird -- out in Livonia where my office is, I can see grass everywhere, but at my house in Canton, as of this morning, my lawn was still basically completely covered with snow. If it stays sunny and gets up to 55 like they're saying, a lot will melt today, and it sounds like it's going to be around 50 the next few days, so it might be possible that enough snow will be gone to play some mud golf this weekend. Just seeing some light at the end of the tunnel is helping my mood.

Max - I thought $150 was a nice round number for a buddy. I'm sure you could get more, he should be thrilled to get the DI + the club for so cheap.

Itw - Please take that same picture the next two mornings if your at work, that would be awesome! We missed out with the lack of sunshine yesterday but next 3 days should do some work on that.

BG - the posted advice about is the perfect way to go about it.

I can do that for sure. Well as long as I don't forget. Right now as you can see it's basically just the tops of hills that have melted. That's partially because quite a bit of that snow drifted down the hill.
