Almost halfway through the season and I'm still beating this thing like it owes me money!!

G30 LS =

I proved its not idiot proof with a solid 79 in a match with 8 penalty strokes off the tee. It's not the club but at the same time I'm swinging so poorly I'm thinking about switching it up for a mental reset.

I would seriously recommended putting it in the highest loft position before you dump it. I kept fighting the idea of playing my 10.5 in the large plus position, but since I've settled on it, the forgiveness and accuracy has been incredible. I'm no slouch off the tee, with a typically high draw flight and high 160s ball speeds. Playing an AD DI 7X in mine. I was playing my standard G30 10.5 in the large minus position all of last year. Give it a go, I'm confident that you won't be disappointed.

I have not hit it on that setting but will give it a go for the hell of it. I've got the same high draw, 10.5 in standard setting for most rounds. I should have clarified, I won't be dumping it but maybe a backup would put some heat on it. I've also got a DI 6x I haven't tried yet.

Is there a noticeable difference between the 65s and the 80s shaft?
I didn't find the 65 and 80 to be a huge difference outside of the weight difference. The 65 felt like a low 60's weight and the 80 felt like a mid 70's weight. The 80 was tighter feeling.

Please chime in with how it goes for you. It literally took me months to settle on that setting as I kept fighting the mental concept of playing it like that. In the lower loft positions I seemed to be getting two way misses that were driving me nuts. I'm hitting high, flat drives in the large plus position. I also put a plus4 GP grip on mine and that was a nice change as well (previously had a thin V-cord on it). I was literally going to dump this driver because I couldn't get it sorted. Now I'm quite happy with what I have. I'm also very comfortable hitting the fade with it now. Recenlty won a local WGA amateur event since getting the big stick sorted....

Will do, play almost every day so I'll most likely try that setting this afternoon depending on work. I actually have a +4 on the rogue right now.

what does the big plus setting on a 10.5 head do to loft and face? thanks
+1 degree. As for the face, in theory it closes it.....but I'm not clear as to how much. Personally, having owned the standard model G30, also in 10.5 loft.....I can confirm that the LST is visually more open when in the same hosel setting with the same shaft. So I personally find that the LST actually still sits square to open in the large plus position. I have not had this measured and this is solely based on visual comparison to the standard model which I had performed many a driving range head to head with.

Guys. In theory, changing the loft setting should not affect face angle at all ASSUMING you set the club square at address. This is where I have a problem with adjustable drivers. I have a standard G30 10.5 (which I love) but whenever I fiddle with the loft adjustments (especially in the big setting) it results in some serious hard draws or fades. The problem is that when you make these loft adjustments you cannot sole the club in a resting position. If you do that, the only thing you will have accomplished by adjusting the hosel is changing the face angle. If you want to accomplish a loft adjustment, you need to set the club square behind the ball. For me, it's a little unnatural to do this because the sole of the club is no longer resting flush on the ground. For those hoverers out there, this wouldn't pose a problem.

So at least for me, I leave the club in the standard setting and I'm a happy camper.

Hit it well today, will keep playing in large + setting. Shot 69 but weird wind direction and only hit driver ~8 times, all in play though.

Alright so today I took the G30LS & my current gamer (915D3) down to a local course with foresight. I was hitting them both pretty much as good as I can and the results were shockingly similar. I didn't take any pictures, but my numbers were quite nice with both clubs: I just rounded off my numbers to make it less technical

G30LS (9.5) Tour Shaft S Flex

Total Spin Average: 2300
Average Carry Distance: 260
Total Distance Average: 285
Average Distance offline: -15 yards

915D3 (9.5) AD-DI 6S

Total Spin Average: 2450
Average Carry Distance: 260
Total Distance Average: 280
Average Distance Offline: -7 Yards offline

I only included those statistics because they're the only ones that matter to me when checking out numbers. I hit 15 balls with each driver and that's what I ended up with. The G30 was rolling out a little further and was launching a bit lower too. Going into this I had no intention of changing drivers, unless the G30 truly performed better but 5 yards isn't enough of a boost for me to switch and the 915 was straighter as well.

Yup, I also really really wanted to love the G30 LS and was hoping it would provide more forgiveness than my SLDR. Sadly, I got results similar to yours on the launch monitor. Perhaps its high-launch/low-spin physics, but once you get the spin down, there doesn't seem to be any noticeable improvement in "forgiveness". FWIW, I was getting around 1900 revs with the LS. The old club remains in the bag.

In process of building a backup G30 LS to go alongside my gamer.

Called Ping to verify and it appears my gamer has a 14g weight in it, which brings my 45.5 Rogue in at D5

My backup with KK XT 70 has a 10g weight in it, came in at D2 at 45 inches. I also gripped with MCC +4 and combination was leaving my ball out way right.

Got an authentic Ping 14.5G weight off the bay and drop it in the backup, see how it shakes out...

Mine had the weight written on the underside in silver too fwiw.

Played another 27 last night with the 10.5 in the big + setting, didn't miss a ball so I will most definitely be sticking with it. It feels just the slightest bit like it's more of a glancing blow but distance seems good, flight hasn't changed at all which is interesting becuase I've tried it turned down and noticed lower launch. Thanks for the recommendation!

Come watch me, and I'll show you how it's done.

Did a little shaft test at the range today, just using ball flight. No numbers, just eye test, and I got the best results with the Tour AD MT 7x in the neutral setting, with the AD BB 7x in big plus setting close behind. Also tested against AD BB 6x, but that seemed easier to hook, and tour 80x doesn't seem to pop as much (earlier Trackman comparison to AD BB 6x showed that, as well). 4 rounds in the next 3 days scheduled, and I'm leaving the other shafts home, so it'll get a good test.

I'm interested in the BB 7x combo. I was using that shaft for the a while last year in my Bio Cell Pro and have thought about putting it in the G30.
Guess I'm old school....but eye test is the only way to go....tells me everything.
If I would ever get on a monitor I'm sure I'd be messed up quickly. I believe in the Red Stake (100) to white stake (150) philosophy in the short grass. If one achieves that then the game is easy. I've got a local pro telling me to come down and he'd put me on the trackman....I said no way....I don't want to know specifics as if I can have a GW-8 iron in hand on the avg Par 4 I can figure it out from there....Golf is best when I'm not thinking about swing, spin, numbers, etc.... Love hearing about all the shaft test though and settings everyone shares. Curious to hear about the upcoming 4 rounds.
