Come watch me, and I'll show you how it's done.

Did a little shaft test at the range today, just using ball flight. No numbers, just eye test, and I got the best results with the Tour AD MT 7x in the neutral setting, with the AD BB 7x in big plus setting close behind. Also tested against AD BB 6x, but that seemed easier to hook, and tour 80x doesn't seem to pop as much (earlier Trackman comparison to AD BB 6x showed that, as well). 4 rounds in the next 3 days scheduled, and I'm leaving the other shafts home, so it'll get a good test.
Guess I'm old school....but eye test is the only way to go....tells me everything.
If I would ever get on a monitor I'm sure I'd be messed up quickly. I believe in the Red Stake (100) to white stake (150) philosophy in the short grass. If one achieves that then the game is easy. I've got a local pro telling me to come down and he'd put me on the trackman....I said no way....I don't want to know specifics as if I can have a GW-8 iron in hand on the avg Par 4 I can figure it out from there....Golf is best when I'm not thinking about swing, spin, numbers, etc.... Love hearing about all the shaft test though and settings everyone shares. Curious to hear about the upcoming 4 rounds.
Some folks get so caught up in numbers that they forget to play the game. I'm the same way, my eye looks for a certain type of flight with each club.

I recently took out my G30 LS 9 set to neutral with Aldila Tour Green 75 x, 915D2 S+ 62 x 9.5 set to C1 and an Adams XTD 10.5 set to 9* with the Black Tie 7M3 for an on course shootout. In summary the Ping was the longest followed by the Adams and the Titleist. Difference was about 5 yards vs the XTD and 10 yards vs the 915D2. The 915 hit too high and spun too much. Surprising the Adams was the most accurate and I hit too many hooks with the Ping while the Adams was straight to tail off fades. The Adams was a real nice surprise. I don't know why but there were way too many hooks and pulls with the Ping which is at 45.75 inches vs 45 inches for the other 2 drivers. Maybe if I choked up on the Ping? But for now I'm bagging the Adams. I love drivers that I can hit fades with and throw drivers that go left to the curb. :D While the Ping was clearly the longest (not by much) it was the least accurate for me.
couldn't agree more. Way to much focus on spin these days. Any 8 handicapper or below can correctly identify proper launch and dispersion by hitting a small bucket in 15 minutes.
Trackman and monitor guys get so caught up on hitting into a net and reviewing spin (which is often to low for them) and trying to reduce it further they move further away from what made them a good golfer to begin with....good ball striking and accuracy. I was reading an article older pros seldom swang harder than 85℅ at a drive to focus on accuracy. Today better balls and equipment has increased that at the pro level but I'm still an advocate of 85-90℅ speed.

I think trackman and the computer age moves golfers to chase only max length. I understand the concept but 100℅ effort affects accuracy. We amatuers should get back to accuracy attention as the primary and stop or resist this insane distance concept the industry has been selling the last 15 years.

Trackman is basically a sales tool to sale more equipment and it does great job of it. Some guys really enjoy it and that's fine but I'm certain it will only cause one to spend more money not make you a better golfer.

I to got caught up in the hype and overspent on one of the worst driver heads in the modern era (SLDR) to gain that ellusive extra 10 yards. So I could hit a GW instead of my PW. Lol. Problem was I was chipping out sideways many times and then hitting GW.

Accuracy wins most of the time. G30? Best driver (accuracy wise for me since G20....yet 10 yards longerO:-)

I have been enamoured with the G30 for the last few weeks. I just hit GS close to my work to hit the new I series irons. I was able to hit the G30 Tour 65S and the G30LS Tour 65x both 9 degrees. I am a very low spinner of the driver and have a REAL tough time cracking 2400 rpm so I would have never thought to try the LS model.

I hit 7-8 balls with the G30, I saw avg 15 deg LA and 3000 spin. I swapped to the LS model and got the same LA but low 2500 spin. Avg carry went from mid 250 to upper 260 with the LS/65x combo. The way the head/combo felt was nothing short of awesome. I can see why you guys are going nuts for it. I just did an entire bag overhaul and can not think about new clubs. Come on Powerball!!!!!!

had mine a few weeks now
its not as long as my Vapor Pro was - that thing was a beast, but I hit it all over the planet
whats neat about this driver is the misses
Ive hit it seriously way out on the high toe and thought, oh man I'm dead ...... and its really ok

I honestly have only put one OB w it maybe once in 10 rounds w it, where I was doing that every 2-3 rounds w the Pro
and rarely turn it over, its dead straight to high baby fade all day
I think i could maybe get a few more yds w a different shaft (something stiffer) but season is coming to an end so i wont bother till next year

I had a bunch of credit at my club and pretty much got one for free. They had one with a Tour 65 R and I had hit my friends Tour 65 S and had a little trouble turning it over. My swing speed is around 95-98 with driver. So I got it and hit some balls on range, got loose and then hit it. It just goes so straight. I'm a 5 HDCP and tried to make some kinda bad swings and it just goes straight or curves back to center. When I made good solid swings I was hitting a nice mid high draw and far. So I played 9 holes and shot 34 from our back tees. Hit every fairway and the game was just easier. This driver is a game changer.

Had one, hit some bombs then slice city. Keep reading this thread, bought another 10.5 head. Keep slicing the heck out of it or straight as an arrow. Killed me on the front today. Got to sell it.

Been trying to get the g30 lst to work but I am about to give up. Tried 3 different shafts too.

For some reason, love all other ping products but was never able to get comfortable with any of the ping drivers. Was hoping the G30 lst would be different. Don't know what it is, head shape possibly.

TM drivers just seem to work better for me. Probably going to put the R1 back in the bag.

Experiment over.

Mine looks pretty square. I sole the club lightly. I find it difficult to draw. I will saw its a tough shot for me. Straight and fades usually.

I just put a Kuro Kage XTS in it today. Very nice feeling and ball flight is mid/high and with this head dispersion is really tight.

Please don't say tm. Lol 12* sf was much better on the back. Just need a mid launch shaft for it.

What weight comes in the stock configuration of the club? Thanks.
Mine had the weight written on the underside in silver too fwiw.

Played another 27 last night with the 10.5 in the big + setting, didn't miss a ball so I will most definitely be sticking with it. It feels just the slightest bit like it's more of a glancing blow but distance seems good, flight hasn't changed at all which is interesting becuase I've tried it turned down and noticed lower launch. Thanks for the recommendation!
Happy to read this! Loving mine in that setting..... Was soooo worried I made a mistake dumping my standard model G30, but now I'm very happy I had.
Love mine in that setting as well, would not have even thought of trying if not for this thread. After struggling to hit a draw with it since purchased 2 months ago yesterday I was able to hit a draw or fade as needed. Only problem is I've spent a lot of time over the last month working on this at the range I've neglected my irons and laid sod or hit thin 4-5 shots yesterday from 80-100 yards in the middle of the fairway. Time to hit the range and work on the short game.

Ok lads,

So I had my LS Tec out over the weekend. Had it set to 9* and was hitting it very straight, but also very high. Not going as far as my R11. Then switched it to 8.4* or whatever it is?? Tried hitting a few at that loft but it felt like I was miss hitting them. I couldn't keep it in the air at all??

Does anyone know why this would happen? How there's suck a difference between the two lofts. My old R11 was set to 8.2 or something.

I started out hitting this thing damned good, always a fade but long, but recently I've been slicing it off the planet.
First thought was swing change, so I worked on that with little success.... then changing address a bit, little success...

Grabbed my old Nike Covert I sold to a friend...hit it straight, slight draw, slight fade...ALL really nice drives and in play.....Back to the G30, slice central.......
I went back and fourth a few times and the results were the same.

I'm starting to think this club is just not for me...

Settings were
G30
9.6 degree
Stiff Blue Shaft

Nike Covert
9.5 Degree
Stiff Kuro Kage Silver

Pretty simple. Two vastly different shaft profiles. Your sequencing might be very off when you switch between the two.

14 Pings. Blueprints are incredibly good. Fetch is the most underrated putter on the market. Don't @ me.

That's mental mostly. Think about it... the head didn't move much at all. The shaft is the same. The position is within 6/10s of a degree. The margin you'd miss on the head is so tiny, it's almost unnoticeable. Switch back to 9 for a while. If you're hitting it too high, move it back in your stance just 1 inch - maybe just 3/4 of an inch, and see if that takes care of it.
