What Did You Shoot Today? (Continuation)

Today, I putted quite poorly, with several 3-putts. I did make birdies from 4', 5', 20', and 2' -- great ballstriking day. But I missed just as many from similar distances, including another 4' birdie putt. Dropped shots on 16 and 17 (left my putts way too short), then I hit a terrible drive on the par-5 18th way left. Had to hit it over trees, but pulled off a great shot to 65 yards from the hole. Drilled a half sand wedge to 2 feet (the putt mentioned earlier) to stop the choking and end up tying my best round ever, 4-over 76 on a 6600 or so yard course with a 137 rating. Fun fun day.

PS: I used a single ball for my last two rounds. Not sure I've ever done that before.

i shot sh!t today, is what...

decided to quit on the sixth hole of play #15 ("The Downhill") at South Forbes. was already 8-over by the end of that hole, played a bit better and finished 11-over 45 on what was going to be the FRONT NINE of my whole 18...

as the caddy said, it was NOT my day. First time at the course and it. is. brutal. Short and tight. Par 67. lost 6 balls by the fourth hole.

il brutãl.

makes me wanna go back and shoot 85. no way that was gonna happen today. and I'm telling you, 85 on that course would be SPECIAL.

wasnt 85, but I went back and shot 87, and left A LOT of putts out there.

heading back out tomorrow to trim a few strokes more.

I love reading the site but it's frustrating not being able to spend as much time on the course and at the range as I'd like due to work. I played a good amount in high school and worked at a driving range and was hitting a ton of balls so I got to be a decent balls striker for a little while. Then I went to college and pretty much stopped playing all together. Probably went to the driving range or played 18 holes less than 20 times total in the last 10 years until last summer. Last year I finally bought some new clubs started watching a ton of youtube videos and took a couple lessons. I've been slowly building my game back up. Had a busy summer but I'm trying to get in a range session once or twice a week and play 18 every other week. (Don't ever move to LA, it's way too expensive, the public courses are garbage and all I want to do is move to Texas in the middle of nowhere and golf everyday)

Shot a 96 but it was fairly encouraging for me and I feel like I'm pretty close to breaking 90. Started with a triple then a double bogey on the first 2 holes but was bogey or par the rest of the round. Missed two putts by about 1 ball rotation and had a couple bad chips but I had a lot of really good shots for me and I feel like all the aspects of my game are slowly coming together. I only had 1 3 putt which has been a big problem for me, I finally settled on a routine that works for me and have been practicing speed on longer putts which was probably the weakest part of my game. Looking forward to posting more scores and finally breaking 90 hopefully in the next few weeks.

alright, well...

78. trimmed 9 strokes, blacked the back nine 3 over 37. pretty stoked. par 67, 11-over 78, and I was really just looking for 85...

which reminds me, a friend of mine had some wisdom regarding the card. he said to just let the caddy (cant play overseas here without one) keep the card, and just add up at the end. first time ive ever done that, and it was so freaking refreshing.

i wonder if its gonna be a game changer for me, as I usually pretty much obsess over the course of my round while playing. "Oh I gotta get a birdie here to pull this front nine off 6-over," etc. etc....

wont get to play that course again for another week, but will reunite with my regular group to play in a couple days.

JUST ONE THREE PUTT!

72 in competition on my home course from the back tees. I'm very happy, it's my first par round since loosing my game and rebuilding my swing in 2014.

Didn't play extremely well but holed two 25 foot birdie putts and made a couple of good pars, at the same time my three or four really bad shots came at the right places and only cost me a couple of strokes.

The round can be divided into three distinct phases. From hole 1 to 6 I felt pretty shaky. Had to save par on 1, missed the green badly on 3 and made bogey, missed the green BADLY on 4 and made another bogey, missed a lay up shot and had to scramble for par on an easy par 5, on 6 I blocked a hybrid and was left with an 8 iron approach on a sub 300 yard par 4.

The second phase started with that 8 iron. Hit it solidly and got my first good birdie putt, which I missed. I then played perfect golf and hit every green from hole 7 to 13 and converted three birdies. -1 after 12 holes, however I three putted 13 and was back to even par.

That was the start on phase 3, which was a fight where it felt like I was going to bogey every hole. Holes 14-18 on my home course are always played into or across the breeze and today there was a two club wind. There's a lot of opportunities to mess up; 14 looks incredibly narrow but is actually wide open to the left and when the ball leaves the sheltered tee and gets out in the open the wind wants to push your tee shot right into the woods. 15 and 17 are pretty short but are played into the wind and has water all along the left side. 16 is long par three with no trees and the wind might move your tee shot 20 yards sideways. 18 is a 450 yard brute straight into the wind and with OB on the right.

On 14 I hit a 5 iron over the green and got a bad lie. Hit the chip too short and had to sink a putt from the fringe for par. Blocked both drive and lay up on 15 put ended up in good places and missed a birdie narrowly. Scrambled for par on 16. Played 17 very well but missed the birdie. Hit my best drive of the day on 18 but still had 190 yards left. The wind had calmed a bit and I chose a 4 iron which I hooked and I had to make a rare up and down from a bunker to save my 72.

So it's been a minute since I have been on. I had major shoulder surgery in January and was only clear by my Doc a little over a month ago. It was perfect timing.

While in Phx I played 8 to 10 rounds.

I played:

TPC Champions Course and shot a 82

I played Falcon Dunes golf course (Luke Afb) several times and shot 77/78, and one round I didn't score because the greens where getting pretty rough. They punched them 2 weeks before I got there. Aafter 2 months they were having issues with them.

I played Sun Ridge Canyon and got pair with Don Graham. With his help I was able to shot an 82 on the toughest track I played while there.

At Moon Valley I shot 78

The Boulders (front 9 of both courses) 78

I played Verrado Golf Club a couple times shooting 78/84

I played WigWam Gold course and shot a 79

At Palm Valley I shot a 81

Most of these rounds I shoot really well on the front 9, but by hole 13 or 14 the heat was just killing me. When leaving Germany, where is was in the low mid 60 and raining, 110 to 115 was brutal.

Now I'm in Utah for the last couple days, I have played:

Hubbard Golf Course twice I shooting 75/82.

Bountiful Golf Club shooting 77/76. I don't know how I shot a 76, it felt like a 86.

I plan on playing Vally View today, I'm hoping it goes well also.

Played a late afternoon round by myself at Tukwet Champions course in Beaumont, California. 4-under though 13 and then had to get home for birthday dinner. Effortless round. Hit 11 of 13 greens and the other two I missed by only a yard. Hadn't played the course in years but wanted to play it prior to the Inland Empire Amateur on Labor Day weekend. Course plays firm and fast, which is great for me.

Played 9 at my home course after work. Shot 40.. 6 pars, 2 bogeys..double on the last hole !!! Was +2 thru 8 holes. Needed par on last hole to shoot a 38. Proceeded to hit worst drive of the round..way right thru tree line on to 1st fairway. Was 170 yds out..tried to hit 6 iron , almost got through trees ..dropped straight down. Hit bad shot over green..that left me almost impossible chance at bogey..missed 20 footer..made double.
