Almost pulled the trigger on these but I must say I couldn't be happier with my srixon 945 I got instead.
Interesting, Shows that everyone has a different aspect. I hit the 945's side by side with the MP5 and to me, the MP5 blew the 945's out of the water. 945's are great clubs but the feel and setup to me was night and day. distance wise about the same, maybe a few yards to the Mp5 side.

My 2cents. I've had my mp5 for a little over a month.

As stated by someone else, 4 grips out of the set came crooked, like way crooked, like nowhere near having the Lamkin label point straight down the club. That is not expected from Mizuno.

I'm not liking the shape of the pitching wedge and 9iron, it's very rounded. My last set , mp63's (which I loved), had a dead straight leading edge. I haven't decided if I want to take the time to get used to them or just get a used sent of 63's in good condition.

Other than those two complaints they feel great, have great turf interaction, somewhat forgiving, and can hit high or low. It's just the shape of the short irons that are funky.

i hit the MP5 against my current MP4s and have to say i was left feelin eh...

- MP4s feel better to me
- MP5s are from a looks standpoint - nice in the back side but address they look longer and slightly wider topline than the 4s...i call it a draw
- performance wise they were close to the same but, i felt my MP4s were more solid in the long irons, probably b/c the added length heel/toe of the MP5s were off putting for me (felt like i would hit it on the chunkier/digging side)

sound was about the same

I would say between the Mp4 and Mp5 .... is more like saying JPX 850 vs 850 PRO. Chis Wood said, "it's like my MP-4 gained a bit of weight", lol.

I own both MP4's and 5's, honestly, not much difference in size, or feel. but they have
differences in playability. Both enable great workability and flighting the ball is a breeze.
I think the mp5's offer a touch more ease of use. Both clubs are a blast to play with,
Can not thnk of any reason why any MB player would not be impressed with either set.
Although, Mizuno refers to the MP5, as a channel back.

I felt the same with the shape of my 64s. When they said they made the MP 4 8-PW much smaller and thinned them out, I jumped on them and couldn't be happier. Pick up a set of MP 4 scoring irons. Noticeably shorter heel to toe and thinner top line.
I'm thinking about picking up the 5s for my 4-7 just for something shiny and new. Not because they're actually better than the 64s (Other than looks, they're pretty much the same to me). Not touching the 8-PW 4s. Perfection.

Wow! PW is still ginormous but overall the Yoro set looks incredible. Kind of reminds of the Tom Lehman 300's.

I think I figured out what it is about the PW that bothers me....

First, it IS big. It has a very rounded top line and there are 14 grooves on the MP5: 7 of equal length on the lower portion of the face and another 7 of varying lengths on the top portion. IMO, the topline shape and the groove configuration make the PW look even bigger than it actually is.

As an example and in contrast, there are 13 grooves on the 716CB: 8 of equal length on the bottom and 5 of equal length on the top. Plus the topline seems less rounded. It just looks like the proper proportions for a scoring club to me.

Again, this is just my opinion. Most probably don't notice this, and even for those who do, it probably doesn't bother them.

I have a gift card to golfsmith and was just about to buy the p-8 mp-5 to go with my mp-54 set but that pw looks like a shivel. That is the reason I want to get rid of my p-8 in the 54 set. I may have to buy the mp-4 and have them fitted to me by a local guy. Golfsmith said they no longer can custom fit the mp-4.

I think the PW shape/size preference depends on whether you view that club as a "#10 iron" or a wedge. If you view it as a wedge then Mizuno's choice for shape & size makes total sense as the PW blends very well into most all wedge sets available. Most of the Mizuno irons sets have a very clear and smooth progression for shape and size moving from the low irons all the way through their wedge sets.

Put me on the side that likes the Mizuno PW size and shape.

Looks are as subjective as feel. Probably more-so. That said, how much "forgiveness" does one honestly need in a PW?

I played my 2nd round with my new MP-5's. For 2 years I thought the 64's were the best feeling Mizuno, but these 5's beat them handily. They just feel so damn sweet. I can't say I notice any difference in forgiveness. I played 68's for a while, and the 5's are more forgiving.

Went with TourSpec, they start at $200 a club plus options. These came out to $230, but it can get pretty expensive with more grinds and finishes. Still, I don't think you can beat the price for the customization on such a highly engineered design.

And they sure feel sweet!

If anyone is interested what a Yoro-crafted set with a semi-squared toe and straightened top line looks like....

Ahhhh really? Wow.... you went for the full monty on that set. How much? Who did you go through?
Went with TourSpec, they start at $200 a club plus options. These came out to $230, but it can get pretty expensive with more grinds and finishes. Still, I don't think you can beat the price for the customization on such a highly engineered design.

And they sure feel sweet!

Congrats, post a picture of your sticks when you get them.
How long will it take tour spec to complete your order?

Pics are higher up on this page, post 552. It took slightly more than 6 weeks from sending payment to getting the irons. Not bad!
