TP Mills - Post your Putter

Just picked up a Softtail on eBay - I’ve been searching eBay off and on for over a year for a TP Mills putter and as a lefty, they don’t pop up very often. Has anyone heard of the 880 tour? That’s how it was advertised. Looks like Black Oxide over Carbon Steel maybe? Once I have the putter in hand I’ll post better picks, but here is what was on the listing:

It's a Softail, most likely carbon black ox as you say with a tig welded hosel (the red "T").  No idea what the "880" is.  Might be something of significance to the original customer on this (it's clearly a custom).

 

Nice overall example.  You're right - not many in lefty out there.  Good catch.  Hope you love it.

Thanks for the info. I bet you’re right about the “880”. If it’s the weight, I’m doomed 🙂

Thanks will see what I think, I love my Trad II so will see if the SoftTail is close if not may sell and buy a backup Trad II.

Introducing…The Brown Flamed Sycamore.

If you want to geek out a little more, here you go. The Nellie Wings is 4.1” by 1.5”, 535 grams total, 353 g head weight, with 30* toe hang. The Sycamore is 3.9” by 1.7”, 533 grams total, 351 gram head weight, with 26* toe hang.

The Softail that was posted above. Gonna give it a little clean up, not sure if I'll keep it or if it moves on. Definitely needs new paint fill, some came off when cleaning.

Forgot to post these. The Trad II after and before with the new paint fill, it definitely pops more, it was nice without paint too. 

 

The cross hair on the face I may do with something else to make it stand out more. Black just doesn't show.

A new David Mills addition to my collection….and with a bullet sole (the one on the right in photo below).  This might be the most solid of all the TP and David Mills putters I’ve owned!

I got myself on David's "waiting list" a few weeks back. Any insight into his process? Will he just contact me out of the blue one day saying he has started?

Bullet sole allows for more mass (thicker face) which gives a very very solid feel at impact.  Basically your removing some weight to reposition without having a putter that's way to heavy for play.  I bet this one feels unreal.  I have one that's 360 gram.
