Ping Anser TR 1966

I was quoted 30 for a sight dot and 35 for the antique finish on the Anser. Pretty nice upgrades IMO!

 

If order through Morton's or any other Ping distributor your putter will ship from Ping directly to you.

For clarification, I was told the only finish option through WRX for the Anser is antique. For the Anser 2, it's Starshot.

Confusing. PING confirmed via email the option of the Starshot on Tuesday.

This thread has been no good to my productivity at work. Too many options... Anser with starshot and a sight dot and black paint fill? Anser 2 with a sound slot? I'm going to pull the trigger, just not sure if I want to wait till March to see some examples of what people have ordered.

This is sort of why I ordered one off the rack first, so hopefully that one arrives quickly while I mull over a custom one.

Even with a $250 up-charge for adding tungsten (which is a lot), a custom Ping is still cheaper (by a little) than a 2016 OTR Scotty. IMO, a custom tungsten weighted Ping will hold its value better than a OTR Scotty.

I'll be ordering the anser myself but since i prefer a heavier weight, I'm going to have Ping put tungsten plugs in the heel and toe if the face through WRX. Get that thing up to my desired weight and give it a go!

Now I'm confused...the previous page said you could order an Anser with starshot finish. Are you guys saying you can't?

I emailed PING on Tuesday and they responded that the startshot finish on the TR 1966 Anser was a WRX option. However when I called the customer rep didn't have that information. Nor did he know the release date since the model is so new. Emailed PING again to verify.

As mentioned earlier, call Seannie at Morton golf. She has all the info and would be happy to help.

 

If you call ping direct some of the ping CS reps don't really know about the Wrx options and services. I've had way better response time and info going through Morton golf.

For those who have ordered OTR vs those who ordered WRX customized, any shipping ETA or is it still unknown at this point? I ordered OTR from 2nd Swing and the initial order said 10-14 days (from Jan 22), but I've not received any updates since. I'm curious to know as to whether other vendors have been more specific, or have more information for that matter. Thanks.

I thought they weren't out until March either way.

Thanks. I have zero expectations, OTR or custom, since I'm likely not playing any golf until March anyway, since most courses here are snow covered and/or downright soggy. Maybe even April depending on my work schedule.

Does anyone know if they are offering any lengths other than the 35" they have on the website?

 

Or would I have to go through WRX to get my preferred length (33")? I was originally planning on just picking up one off the rack, but if I have to custom order for my length, I might as well go whole hog and get all my custom options done.

 

This thread is not going to be good for my wallet.

Very cool--I just saw that these will come standard with stepped shafts! Small detail, but one I've had to custom order for years now. I'll definitely be rolling with an Anser 2, I just have to figure out if I'll be adding a sound slot or not. (i will)
