Ping Anser TR 1966

I'm really excited for these. The anser 2 is everything I wish my current Karsten TR was. I'll probably end up with one of each. Can't believe we don't know more about a release date yet.

What's interesting to me is that by now, someone higher up at Ping must know that the TR 1966 page is live, but yet they are not saying anything or taking it down. Maybe that's how you drum up more interest without overselling it. Then again, it's likely only a comparatively small group who are excited about this line.

Yeah, they are definitely aware. It is definitely going to be on sale. I think it's a good way to do it. All the wrx type people are aware and the rest of the people will find out in week at the pga show. Almost a planned leak, but they control it by having it on their site. Complete with professional images and specs. No miss-information.

 

Not really a flagship product. More of a small niche to celebrate a milestone. But very cool nonetheless. I really like the idea of this model and hope to see more simple clean lines with modern tech from Ping.

True and I like those grooves. I own a starshot Karsten-TR with those grooves.

 

This putter is very similar to my K- TR Anser, though. That was my point.

 

Still a cool putter, though. I like the yellow antique hue, personally.

So once this comes out, how does one go about getting a sight dot on the top? I would assume through PingWRX, but I've never gone through them, nor do I know how much extra it will cost.

 

Edit: $21 according to Morton Golf Sales. Just not sure how it would work with an unreleased putter

Me too. The Anser looks too good not to buy. Also love the fact that it's not to darn heavy at 340g head weight! Their website says it will ship on the 11th februari, but we'll see.

The Anser 2 looks pretty good in the tweet. If you covered up the cavity, you might be fooled at first glance that it was a 90's Anser 2. I don't want to be, but I'm bugged that they had to do the PVD finish on the Anser. As a 50 year anniversary commemorative line, these were BEGGING to have a MgBr option.

Yeah, the new pictures from Twitter look even better than the stock ones they have on the product page. The Anser 2 is what I ordered a few days ago, can't wait to see what it looks like in person.

 

Although I might have to pick up an Anser at some point later too, haha.

Because it's a PVD coat, I'm fairly certain it won't darken, not noticeably at least. The Karsten TR line was like that.

Like the Redwood and Milled series tolerances vary. It's not an exact science.
