Which did the most damage? The moose or the truck?

I did not see the Moose but he totaled the truck. I would say from past experience he did not make it. The first FD I was a Volunteer at a cab over truck hit a Mule. It knocked the cab off of the chassis. Needless to say the mule was in several pieces. NCDOT came out with a dump truck and front end loader and got the big pieces of the poor old Mule and we washed the rest off into the ditch. It was not pretty and the truck driver got banged up as well and went to the Hospital but lived

Those old timer truckers told me never to blow the air horns at a Moose especially in mating

A friend of mine hit a moose in a car coming around a turn at 70 mph.  Lucky they didn’t die.  Cut the legs out and the moose crushed the roof of the vehicle as it rolled over the vehicle.

Catching up on the thread a bit after a weekend on the go with Mrs. RoverTiger. Thankfully it all consisted of leisurely stuff, including kicking the tires on my new driver at the range with some promising early results. Maybe we'll get out and walk nine this coming weekend so I can give it a more thorough shakedown.

Glad to see that so many of you guys are making some good strides on the health/fitness front. I had gotten up to 175 (at 5'8") about a year or so ago due to snacking and inconsistent workouts, but having the home gym at our disposal now (and not wanting the investment to go to waste) has really led me to turn the corner. I'm at 160 now (want to get down to the 150 or so from my soccer days), and legitimately have energy levels that are closer to 23 than my actual 43.

Life is short. If staying on this path can help me squeeze every last drop of enjoyment out of this mortal existence, so be it.

Nice! Ya I’ve been very consistent with a routine for some time, I basically alternate days between strength training and HIIT workouts, and do yoga in there couple days a week.

But I just added something new a couple weeks back!

I wake up, “beditate” lol for 10 minutes, then I put on shorts and sneaks, stretch, and walk out the door.

I walk for a few minutes then leisurely jog to park for 5 minutes. Then I run 5x 200 yard sprints! I walk in between them to catch my breath. I don’t go 100% on the sprints, maybe like 80-90%, but get more out of breath with each one. Then I just jog a few minutes and walk home.

Whole thing takes 30 minutes. The best part is being outside. The impact on mental clarity and general state of mind  is awesome and lasts all day.

Then I have ️ etc.

Is funny I am just now learning that the stretching we used to do (touch your toes and hold for 30 seconds etc) is supposedly bad! Now it’s “dynamic stretching” that’s good. I can see why, this is a great 5 minute pre workout stretch, or just morning stretch in general

Totally agree. Owned Rotts for a long time. Had a big headed male when my daughter was born, and was a very hesitant Dad with him around her. He adopted her on the first day. I still have pics of him stretched out in front of the TV and her laying back, using him as a pillow while she watched cartoons. That big mutt would lay there as long as she wanted!  He ended up being HER dog until the end.  I am a believer in it is all in how they are raised and treated.

Wonderful pets.

Yep, I'm going on about 20 years as a Rottie papa. Jackie Boy's my 5th!

interesting study results:

high levels of these three personality traits help boost success for elite athletes.

they are known as the dark triad - narcissism, psychopathy and machiavellianism (strategic exploitation and deceit).

the relationships between coaches and athletes with the same traits can negatively impact results of both.

i don’t need no stinkin’ shift key

Got 9 in early this morning. I had a very good day.....for me.

I hit every fairway.

I was on thegreen in regulation in all but 2

and ended up with a not very great 42.

I think i would have needed remote control to have made a putt today !

But, it was a beautiful, cool ,sunny 60 degrees on the first tee, and we had

a nice walk in the springlike weather !

Glad to see you got a good round in. We did not got stormed out. Got a heck of a storm about midnight then it cleared off. We were set to go at 7:30. About half of the group called off. We decided to give it a go even though we had impending showers. LOL made the tee shot and that was it. The bottom fell out. But one silver lining in the cloud I found out my new TM bag is indeed waterproof.

My morning routine is walking two strong AF Rottweilers about a mile. Since it's summertime; I gotta be up earlier than I would prefer to get them out before the pavement gets too hot for their lil paws.

I hear you there. My boy is about 95#….mix of Saint, Pit, and Boxer. He is strong, but would be towards the smaller size for a Rott and he’s not quite as muscle bound as I’d expect from his breeding. Thankfully for me he’s very kind but not the sharpest dog….I’ve never wanted a dog that was too smart and don’t have one here. 😂

Since I have 1 good arm and 1 that might be able to restrain a feisty Pomeranian, he wears a pinch collar — the good German Sprenger training collar. As soon as it goes around his neck, the draft horse pull instinct is gone. He doesn’t even think about pulling, and walks contently beside me until I release him. Good boy.

If I don't? Reference this handy chart ...

We had a male that was pure rott daddy and pure doby mom. He was a beast and my wife's dog, back then she would wash the clothes and hang them out to dry.

He would lay under the line and let the water drip on him while she worked, one day the meter man a nice older black man jumped the fence between the yards to read our meter....well he cleared it going out in record time, ole bear was on him like lightning. Missed him by inches, he came to the front gate from them on and rattled the gate until she came and got him to let him in. Once inside the fence with the wife or myself  he was fine, but the dog was put in the house just the same since he knew the guy was afraid and seemed to enjoy that.

I had a dog who was straight up racist and I got called on it once!

Never did figure out why he would bark at Black men. Women, no problem. I had him from puppyhood, 15 weeks, so no adult rescue history either.

I love dogs but their minds are not like ours!

Dogs are weird.

My last dog Gracie, a pit mix, nicest dog, loved other dogs, cats and people. But if you had a Germanic accent like my Mom or my neighbor, dog would not stop barking at them. Go on for 15 minutes till she chilled out. Did it for years too. I'll never understand it.

I like kitties. They're quiet and sneaky.

We have four, all with very distinct personalities and backstories. Our house would be way less entertaining without them.

I'm a cat person, too. But I like dogs as well. Cooper the cat used to hide behind furniture when I would practice putting in the house. He'd leap out at the last second and attack my rolling golf ball just as it was about to go in the hole, center cut.  I think he saw golf and putting as a game, not the life and death sport that it is.

I'm a animal lover period. You can crap on me a lot before I get mad but treat a animal badly and we have a problem.
