It's looking more and more like the winner will be under par.

Guaranteed it will be under par. No way that many players are going to fall off.

On a side note....

Dustin Johnson is unbelievable. I just cant believe how good he is with the driver. It's like he can go all-out on every hole and hit fairways. Just incredible. Never seen anyone drive the ball as good as him. I can't hit my driver 14 times in one round without it costing me a couple strokes. Johnson is a freak. Nobody is like him.

I don't understand why DJ lays up - he's a crap iron hitter, every time he lays up he ends up in a worse position... should be going for the green in two every time.

He had like 350 to the hole. If he could tee it up in the fairway then I bet he would but he wants to layup to a number for a full wedge rather than be something like 50-60 where he's having to hit a half shot that won't spin.

Has the game changed so much that even Oakmont can't withstand the modern game? Wow the way the announcers were talking people were talking 4 or 5 over being the winning score. It's obvious that Oakmont is brutally tough but wow can't believe this many players are under par.

Are the fans in Pennsylvania nicer than in other parts of the US? No mash potatoes or anything. They are even rooting for Sergio. Or may the idiots come out at the weekend?

Nope, you won't see that trash here.

Not that there aren't idiots however the next two days should mirror the first two-

If one should appear there is absolutely zero tolerance and they will not be asked to be quiet, they will be escorted from the grounds.

That would be great if Sergio could get his first here!!

Enjoy the weekend :)

All the Best,

RP

Wait a minute. What about when Arnie played Jack? :stop:

Different Times and they learned from that tournament and though it's been decades, Guys who were there brought that up in the 70's and into the 80's. I was a "runner" in 1973, and they worried with Arnie being in contention going into the weekend that fans might get rude and they weren't so much worried about Jack because he was a decade+ into his career versus 1962 however they were worried about the other Players and his Playing Partners.

I don't remember anything being brought up though at that age(13yo), I didn't attend the volunteer meetings. I just stayed near a few comittee guys and if a message had to get to any volunteers who didn't have a walkie talkie, they sent me on my way. Most of my "running" was on the weekend and had to do with getting scores before the coverage started.

From my first Committee in 1983, there was zero tolerance. The only time that sticks out was a minor incident in 1994 at the refreshment stand at #10 on Sunday when 4 college kids got belligerent and loud with Monty and they were escorted out.

Like I said, we've got idiots, they just don't last long, lol.

Enjoy the weekend Tanny :)

My Best,

RP

Well played, a more genteel brand of fan. Needs to be some sense at a US Open. Can't say the same about Cavs fans, ha.

Enjoy the viewing and take care RP.

Looking for a 65 or 66 from someone behind on Sunday to win it. Perhaps a Johnny Miller-esque round on Sunday?

Did you see how much rain they got, guys are spinning it back on 1, you would never see that if it was semi firm. The fact that there are only 6 guys under par with all the rain and no wind just shows how tough Oakmont is.

I bet over par wins!!!! Its gonna get rough over the next few days.

Probably too soft for over par.

I'd bet everything I own that the winning score is over par.

Care to retract that statement?

so far the main contributing factor for the relatively low scoring for some are the softer than normal fairways and greens..

if they ever become their normal pace for tomorrow with the greens putting even faster we WILL see a lot of high scores...

if the winds ever come the scores will even be higher...

in any case i can hardly wait to watch what happens..

I'm enjoying the play, the course and the competitiveness, but Fox is not doing that great a job. They are not complementing or developing the story, and seem to not have any feel for what to show or when. Just plain awkward at times. We didn't need the almost comatose Brooks, Holly and whoever the heck else was in the picture standing over some 7th grade science mock up of a hole saying absolutely nothing while important action was being missed (unless it was really a volcano and they were going to light it up). Senseless.
