For those that have applied the GG pivot

This drill works, give the feel of where the arms/hands should get to in transition.............but how to get there in a full swing is the problem for me

???-------a version of the Faldo drill in some ways?

GG does get in some of us near 60 golfers..........here doing the freeze drill. Got good stuff going on

IMO you can't self teach a GG swing by watching clips. Go see the man or do something else.

I'll just say this: this debate has been had endless times and I think most know where I stand. However, even if it were possible to learn this from watching clips, the elementary nature of the vast majority of the questions show most aren't even willing to put in the effort to watch a bunch of 10 second clips. I've watched like a total of 5 minutes of GG content and know the answer to almost every question on this thread. If others aren't even willing to put in that much effort, it's unlikely they have the drive necessary to actually improve.

Still working hard on freezers. Almost hit a ratio of 10 freezers and 5 regular swing shots at this moment. When I do the regular swing wrong almost feels like the body starts the downswing before the arms even get into transition. Hello arm pull. Giving your body a hard stop at the top is tough, but being in sync coming down is a beautiful thing.

Not sure if I'm doing really any of the other GGs moves correctly, but this drill has been an absolute godsend trying to implement new swing thoughts.

One thing I really appreciate about this swing is that it really educates me on the left hip turn. I am honest to admit I was all arms and hips for me where just a trigger to start the downswing. Boy have I been so stupid thank you GG!! I may not follow the swing to a tee but I sure as hell will be incorporating the hip turn principles.

Does GG have any preference regarding pitch or punch right elbow?

I've been dabbling with this for a few weeks now and I've found that going more punch (elbow staying up/behind the right hip into P6) seems to provide more consistent results but possibly not max speed. I haven't quite nailed the throw he talks about just past impact and that seems to be a speed element.

More time needed but enjoying the journey working on this change. BTW..... if anything it feels like less strain on the body and I am no spring chicken.

I'm considering an on-line lesson but in the meantime I have no illusions about how well I can implement it on my own. It's fine to try and do it with the information that's out there for free, but I certainly don't put any blame on GG if I can't.

Most of his players seem to be punchy fwiw.

In fact, a pitch elbow wouldn't be working with his model, would it? Leaving the arms up while the left side opens up, and trying to keep the shoulders level would result in a punch elbow. I'd think that if you're trying to get into a pitch elbow and still follow his pivot sequencing, you'd be mismatching the pieces and would really struggle.

Seeber's wouldn't be considered pitch?

I would recommend doing the freezer and then a real swing, then a freezer, then a real swing. Its better way of ingraining the move into the swing. You phone or tablet to video tape your swings and you can then see if you are making changes

I think it would be pitch but is that what GG prefers? Doesn't he prefer more open shoulders at P6, leaving the hands/arms behind (not what Seeber is doing ASFICT)?

I agree, but Seeber is one of his best students, so it made me wonder how much variation fits "the model". When I first saw his DTL, it appeared that the right elbow moving forward/rotating inward had a lot to do with shallowing the club (vs just the pivot)... which gave me hope, lol.

I thought GG wants the shoulders square at P6

At least square or open.

It's about matching the pieces, right? What I was saying earlier is that he has a model preference and tends toward open, level shoulders. If somebody is gunning for that without realizing that it doesn't fit with their own personal preference of a pitch elbow, they're gonna struggle. Seeber's pieces match very nicely but they're not the model that you see described in virtually every ggswingtips video tip. Totally fine, of course. But when guys are watching those video tips looking for "the secret" and are trying to maximize their hip/shoulder opening for example, a lot of them are doing so without seeing the full picture.

Andrew Rice explaining the GG pivot:

I like it. I think the best point he made was that this move really is more for a better player who tends to get too inside out and hook it. If you haven't gotten to the that place and are still slicing it/OTT (the first stage of development for most beginners) this feel would be a disaster.

Andrew Rice explaining the GG pivot:

GG has woken up not only the GWTX members but the golf instruction community as well. I am pretty sure where Andrew got his inspiration from. No instructor would have dared to show such a "ridiculously looking" pivot movement before!

I am a fan of his teaching style and like GG, but I believe that Andrew Rice, Joseph Mayo, Dana Dahlquist, and all the other great instructors in this camp were inspired by Dr. Young Hoo Kwon at TWU.

Possibly, but GG has brought the "new" pivot most significantly and visually clear to the golf communities.

Probably multiple influences on GG- he says many inspirations, among them Snead, Mac and Como. Kelvin is a likely factor in my opinion.
