Discontinued Components - What would you bring back?

I often find myself In a world of regret when I look back at some of the shaft & grips I loved and can no longer source at a reasonable cost or with continuity.

So two questions for you:

1. Which shaft/grip products do you wish were still available?

2. What products have you moved on to since your supplies dried up?

So for me the products are quite straight forward but alas hard to replace.

Shafts

Graphite Design Purple Ice - Not the shoddy remake but the original version favoured by Greg Norman in the early days and I think Jim Furyk & Bernhard Langer. Was such a good fairway shaft for me and had used it in nearly half a dozen clubs before my clearance stock dwindled. I've never really found something that offered quite the same.

Graphite Design Pershing - A similar story for this one, used in a fair few drivers for me and then used the pulls in fairway woods (I still have one in play). It seems Graphite design has gone to an upper echelon on price and technology in the past few years and finding the affordably priced ones with Mid Launch and Spin are hard to come buy.

Oban Devotion - While not discontinued these are harder and harder to find as pulls and their price seems to have jumped upon the arrival of the Kiyoshi Line and surprisingly the more availability as an upcharge.

I've used Wishon Data in the past to find comparables but alas no joy in finding something that I buy freely and easily.

Grips

Golf Pride Victory Full Cord - Enough said really. Great grip and although re released, hard to find.

Golf Pride Tour Wrap Full cord - My true favourite. The Lamkin UTX wrap has been my closest comparable but still not the same.

Lamkin Deep Etched Paddle Full Cord - My nemesis, I'd love these to appear again. Particularly as the non cord version is slowly gaining traction on OEM lines.

I've gone boring since and settled for Tour Velvets. They will always be around!

I've been buying the heck out of Victory grips at Dick's Sporting Goods. They have the non-cord version for $2.99 at my local store, and the full-cords are only $5.99! Needless to say, I've been stocking up. As far as components that I wish were still around, a lot of the older Snake Eyes stuff from Golfsmith's heyday was pretty good. Golfworks also used to carry a lot of good left-handed components back in the day as well. If we'd only known how far the industry would nosedive, we probably would've stocked up on a lot more good club heads, wouldn't we? It makes me really sad to see the state of the golf component industry nowadays, not to mention the state of the game itself... I think all the new smartphone and tablet technology has really hurt the game. Nobody wants to get outside and spend a few hours playing a real round of golf. The high prices of greens fees and golf clubs sure don't help either. It makes me pine for the early 2000's when component companies and the game were growing like crazy. Now all young people seem to want to do is text and snapchat each other all day. Lame!!!

For me, the shafts I wish were still around are:

Diamana White Board (the originals)

Diamana Blue Board (again, the originals)

Fujikura Rombax Z series

Fujikura Rombax W series

Grafalloy Pro Launch Platinum

True Temper EI-70

For grips I'd say the following:

Golf Pride Tour Wrap Full Cord and Half Cord

Golf Pride V50 Full Cord

For shafts, I've moved to the Diamana Kai'li and S+ series in lieu of the Blue Board and W series Rombax, I haven't really found what I feel to be an equal to the White Board or Rombax Z, though the Fuel Tour Spec was pretty close. Grip wise, I've moved to NDMC grips for the last several years.

Royal "Donny Edwards" wrap grips w/ reminder. TT Dynamic, TT Lite combo flex shafts. Really weird to see so many steel shafts selling for more than graphites these days.

I agree with the steel shafts for woods -- pretty much impossible to find anything other than DG or high priced Nippons. DG SL was great. Graphite, I liked the Fujikura Banzai -- granted it was a fairway shaft, but it was solid. Picked up a couple of of the hybrid shafts recently.

Project X steel wood shafts. The BEST shaft I've ever played in a fw.

Fit-On Pro95 - simple, classic

I've since used various other heavy graphite shafts.

I think the majority of the responses have been in the realm of "heavy (~90-110g) wood shafts". This to me is my biggest want because that's what I use for fw woods and I don't want to jump all the way to a DG at 120+g. Thankfully, there are still a few companies making them but they are harder and harder to come by.

I think the main thing I'd like to bring back is the former prices of components. Costs of grips, shafts, etc have gotten a little out of hand. There's no reason aftermarket shafts have to cost what they do in order to perform well. The funny thing is you had companies like AXE that make amazing shafts for the money and even their prices are creeping up. You used to be able to get a great shaft for around $50-$75 with exotic shafts topping out in the $300 range. Now a "good" shaft costs many hundreds of dollars with some creeping up to $1,000. Even steel shaft prices for irons have gotten insane. Dynamic Gold shafts used to cost $12-15 and now cost $25 each even though they haven't changed or gotten better in any way.

Lamkin sells the deep etched cord putter grip on their website. It says online only. If that is the same grip you are talking about. I have an old deep etched cord on an old ping and a newer deep etched on a cleveland putter laying around the house somewhere.

I would like it if Lamkin would bring back the N-DUR two tone grips (white/blakc or white/blue). Have these on my wedges and my back stock is running low. You can find on the bay every once in a while but pretty expensive. I bought some white/blue ones of there a couple of years ago, but the white/black ones i got from lamkin years before that i feel are better.

My vote for components I'd like to see....

Snake Eyes 600B iron heads

90g and 100g (and up) graphite wood shafts

Heavy graphite is getting harder to find, without spending a premium. Even the long lived SK Fiber Tour Trac 100 has been discontinued.

Such is life...

Dynamics were 8 9$ if i remember.

Dynamic golds never were under 10$?

Used to play r500 s100 both no longer made

I got into clubmaking in 2002, and DG's were $10 at Golfsmith. I thought that was really high, because Lite XL and similar shafts were only in the $5 range. Boy, times have changed. Now Lite XLs are the "cheap" $10 shafts. Sucks, doesn't it?
