Just how tall are these guys again?

every time i go to an event i am amazed how super tiny most of them actually are. I am 6'5 and was taller than Dustin, Tony F, Ernie ect.... They are the taller ones but so many of them seem to be in the 5'7-5'10''. And most of the tallers ones are super super skinny.

Jack on the other hand is now fairly short. I went to dinner with Nicklaus back in 2009 and I have a photos of us standing next to each other and in that photo he comes up to my chin (no kidding).

Just the natural ageing process will "steal" 1.2-1.5" from a man from the ages of 40-70, with women losing up to 2".

 

Reasons being the vertebral discs losing fluid, which leads to a flattening and shrinkage of the spine, in combination with our feet flattening and losing their arch and we loose muscle mass, especially across the abdomen, which leads to poor posture and the appearance of an individual being smaller than they were or are. Joint replacement can also lead to a slight diminishing in height though to my knowledge, Jack has only had primary hip replacement. Regular knee and hip surgeries normally do not lead to a shrinkage unless there is some massive trauma and reconstruction, which he has not had. That's like he's never missed a putt if 5' or less or the green with a 7i or less with either the lead or tourney on the line, LMAO.

 

Back in the day, Jack was 5'11"

 

He's Definitely seen taller days, haha.

Listing Brian Harmon as 5'7 is ridiculous. If he's 5'4 he's lucky. The dude was exactly the same height as my wife. He and Lingmerth are borderline midgets.

The tv cameras definitely mislead. I was very surprised to see Aaron Badelly in person. He looks like a shrimp on tv but is probably close to 6'2"" in reality.

Tiger is around 6'1", Faldo is about 6'4".

I'm 6'2" and have stood right next to both men. Tiger in cleats was a good 2" shorter than me. This was in 2009. Not built that large either. Nothing like people make him out to me.

 

I'd agree with 6'4" with Faldo. Big fella. Absolutely massive head haha. Custom orders his fitted hats for sure.

 

I remember Els and Vijay being pretty tall for golfers as well.

 

They're all pip squeaks next to Phil Blackmar though. He felt like he was a good 6'7". I was younger when I saw him though. Memory might be a bit off.

From up close (inside ropes) over the years, Vijay seems noticeably taller than 6'2"; Phil is a giant dude, Jamie Lovemark is the only one who looks to have an NFL physique. Dustin oddly is exactly the size I imagined (Bubba too). Generally speaking all of them are waay slim.

The guy who was taller than I thought? Jordan Spieth, he's probably 6'2 and watching tv I would have never though he was that tall.

 

Jordan blocked a ball at Las Colinas. I was watching from back yard and he walked to his ball, I almost thought he was someone else as he approached. Definitely taller than TV depicts. On the contrary, Rory is much smaller in person.

When I saw Spieth standing next to Stenson and looking almost as tall as Stenson during the coverage, I was wondering, if he might have still grown a bit in the past two years. It is not all that unusal for men in their early twenties to do that. This could explain some of the problems he has had with accuracy and the more subtle shots on and around the greens this year.

And he was long, too. Almost all of his drives which hit the fairway seemed to be over 300 yards. The number 313 was shown most often, which was sort of funny.

Stood right next to each of these and I am 6'1" barefoot. Tiger is right at 6'. Ernie is a real 6'4"(and big!)- taller than Davis Love III (6'2 3/4). VJ is 6' 2 1/2-3. Michelle is 6'1" barefoot. Exactly my height in similar height shoes. Phil is 6' 2. Jack Nicklaus was 5' 10 1/2 50 years ago when I first stood next to him but is now at most 5'9 (back and hip trauma)..
