SRIXON 765 Initial thoughts and pics!

So I'm in the same boat as many of you. I wish Srixon had made the Z765 A Wedge in the same mold as the rest of the set. I don't like the look of the blade and it seems from reviews and talk that it isn't that great of a club. I have the 54* and 60* MD Forged and thinking of getting the 50* to match those. Thoughts?

As a side note, I play on bermuda almost exclusively and the Srixons perform just fine on them. Zero issues.

The AW & SW for the 745/765 seems to be based off the Cleveland RTX 2.0 Precision Forged wedges we get here in Asia.

Anyone try a 50* RTX3 CB instead of the 765 Aw?

Bump this as thinking/wondering exact same thing. Hearing the set z765 A wedge is short and not as solid as set. Was thinking z565 AW or 50* RTX3 CB or MB.

Anyone try a 50* RTX3 CB instead of the 765 Aw?

I have tried the standard RTX3 50* and it worked well. I would still have it in the bag if my wedge OCD wasn't so strong.

I have a set of RTX3 wedges in 50, 54, and 58. They are solid on full and partial shots, but the 56 and 58 just aren't as good as the SM6 around the greens to keep in the bag. I don't think the V-Sole works well for me with open-faced shots, which I play a lot. However, it is really good out of the bunkers.

Also, the RTX3 have a little more offset and a thicker topline compared to the SM6.

I tried to keep the 50 RTX3 and the SM6 54 and 60 in the bag for a round, but my OCD took over. I may try again since the 50 was so good.

A cleveland alternative is the current RTX 2.0 Forged and RTX - F forged they both don't have the v sole like the RTX3.

Went today and hit the new Mizuno MP18 SC vs the Srixon 765 and 565 all in Modus3 120 stiff (wow what a great feeling shaft!). Was comparing to my current gamers if CF16 w XP95s. Been having a few elbow twinges and also the CF16s aren't the most consistent yardages-- seem to get some fliers. Average carry w 6iron; 182 on their monitor

While the mizuno felt awesome, the Srixon felt just as good and was more confidence looking head as well. What really surprised me was how good and log the 565 is! Holy cow! 765 6iron was consistent 184 and the 565 was 190+ w a couple over 195. Smash factor was 1.4-1.42. Mizuno topped out at 1.38. Didn't realize how "harsh" the Cally setup felt until I would go back after good and loose/warm and hit some and felt the "twinge" again. The forged clubs just feel so damn good!!

Ended up placing an order of z565 in 5,6 (made 6 iron loft 1* weak at 28* to gap them correctly) and z765 in 7-PW w Modus3 120 stiff 1/2" over std and 1* upright. Now just have to wait! Please hurry-- they are gorgeous for sure

I'm sure there is more to the story and I don't mean to be critical. You started by wanting new irons because your old ones weren't giving you consistent yardages but, you're saying you turned down the club that you hit the exact same yardage every time for the one that was less consistent because it was hotter and has stronger lofts? My point is less at you personally and more toward your fitter and this culture entirely. I know there are probably more facts that I don't have but this really presses my buttons.

The yardages were consistent over and over and over again. With the Callys I'll hit an iron 10-15yds long out of the blue and hard to trust em. That coupled with the elbow sensitivity.

Once again, was after consistency yardage, strike and nice soft feel.

I like the wedge shafts. I went with the 115 in my 50* wedge and 125 in 54* and 60* wedges.

I use the 50* as a full swing club normally so I wanted to match up with the 120X I had in terms of weight. I may get another 125 wedge shaft now that I have the 125s in my irons - loving them so far, BTW.

Not the rtx3 but I do have the rtx 2.0 cb in 50deg and love it. I went for the 50 purely because it fit the gap between the pw and the 56 exactly. I'd recommend trying the 50 and 52 to make sure you get what you need as I think different people will hit them different distances depending on swing.

Got sick of seeing this thread pop up, so bit the bullet and am now into a combo 565/765 set with steelfibers

looking forward to hitting the course with these

I can't see how you will be disappointed. 545's and SF i110's here...so good it's stupid.

+1. 765s with i95s. They'll be in the bag for a long time. Unbelievable head and shaft combo.

For those of us who like the AW & SW in the 745/765 series, but would like a different loft, my understanding is that these clubs are based off the

Cleveland 588 RTX 2.0 Precision Forged which is sold in Asia and easily available off Rakuten.

I had a few sets of 745's last year, hit them well then sell as per stupid then buy more.

Fast forward to this spring and i was able to hit a 765 demo head off the matts at the big box store.

For some reason the 765 hit very poor for me. I had read that Srixon had moved weight from the middle of the face out towards the toe. Some reviews thought that was a bad thing. That thought and my poor performance had me moving on from the Z765's.

Fast forward to last week when i was able to score a used combo set of 545 [4] 765 [567] 965 [89pw] with X100 tour issue shafts.

I had been using my Stenson Callaway blacks, loving the 89pw and not bad with the 5 and 6 iron. For some reason the 7 iron was going anywhere but straight.

I took out some 09 burners [stiff graphite] that i had recently picked up just to try the 567. [Have a demo 6 that i was hitting unbelievably well] thought i would try the whole set.

I was not having any luck with the burners, lost alot of shots to the right. Very unhappy.[weak shaft?]

I also brought along the 765 7 and 9,PW 965

First crack with the [765] 7 iron was holy sugar that felt nice, straight and high as well. Turf interaction off the charts.

Iv'e had alot of 7 irons and i used to practise hitting 7 irons till i bled, can't remember hitting a 7 iron as well as i did today.

The 965 9 and pw did the same thing point and shoot.

So i spent the rest of my time on this empty course hitting deadly 7 irons and 9 and pw's.

The X100 shafts felt very smooth, and the combination of shafts grips and heads made me very happy.

Hopefully this feeling continues.

I played the 545 for a wrap around season. I do like how the 65 series got rid of that ridge on the bottom of the sole (and shorten width) it was a poor manufacturing detail.

The SC were def shorter but the Srixons are lofted half a club longer which is why people question on their lower spin and launch characteristics.

I found that the 765 were only a few yards longer over the 900T but when you consider Srixon is 2 degrees stronger, Mizuno is not short by any means, it's just guys aren't looking for extra/needed distance in that segment.

The 565 (larger size, sole, tungsten, offset and super strong lofts > 5 iron is lofted at 24 degrees is a 4 iron by popular opinion) are super game improvement and the 765 (not a compact head at all and 2 degrees strong) are aspiring game improvement irons.

There's no apples to apples here.

My ball flight is unreal with these irons. Perfect for Texas. Little lower and penetrating through the wind and it always just seems to find the straight path to my target. I think using a lower compression ball designed to go straight like the RX is part of it, but I never got the kind of distance and control out of my AP1s as I do these clubs. Not to mention they feel like a dream.

Btw, I have a combo set 4-6 (565) and 7-P (765) and Im constantly wondering if Id rather just have a full set of both. Performance is so good with both that I couldn't choose which I like better. I think that means I made the right choice with the combo set, but Im really convinced Id be fine either way forgiveness wise. On mishits, you lose some distance but the ball goes straight. On in-between hits, it doesn't quite feels as good but the ball goes pretty close to where you want it to. These clubs have increased my enjoyment of the game for sure.

I remember you were going through search for new irons couple months back. glad to hear these suit your game.

like you said, just incredible how your mishits are still go straight with minimum distance loss and matter of fact rolls almost to the same since it flys lower on mishits.

playing a combo set 4-6 z565 7-p z765 love the distances from feel on the clubs but have issues with the ball always wanting to go left not sure if it's the offset or not but have some 714 ap2s that hold the line much better for me but don't like giving up the distance I get from the srixons

Could strengthen the lofts of the AP2's?

Driver = Callaway Smoke-Ai Max-D

3 wood = Callaway Smoke-Ai Max HL

3 Hybrid = Tour Edge Exotics C722
Irons = 4-PW Miura KM 700
Gap Wedge = Miura HB 50*

Sand Wedge = Taylormade MG2 56*

Putter = LAB DF3

Ball = TP5x pix / Bridgestone Tour B-X

Thought about trying it but was a little worried about the effect on the bounce

Solid point, the V sole is not for the sweeping swingers or firm conditions. I found the overall sole to be bulky but they were effective from the rough.

Mixed thoughts on the V-sole for me, quite liked it in the 8 iron to Pitching Wedge, after that not a fan.

Great feeling irons though
