Saw some new Callaway Woods last night (The Epic Thread)

Did anyone hit these drivers with a swingspeed under 100 mph? was there a significant ball speed gain too?

 

My usual SS is in the 95-100 range. Got my first chance to demo today, regular Epic w Rogue Max. my first strike was around 135 ball speed, after warming up my best was 145 (w/245y carry). Launch angle was higher than my current setup (which is a good thing for me). This particular monitor doesn't measure spin, so I'll be interested to see real ball flight before drawing too many conclusions.

Interesting ! I'm similar swing/ball speed.. Can't wait to test one and get properly fitted. My XR I was never fit for... and my carry is in the low 230's. Would love to bump that up into the 240's.

Yes, I had a Fly-Z+ in a whiteboard 63, only carrying 225y with about 9° launch. The Epic launch & carry was similar to but a little more than Fly-Z in an R-flex, which I also hit today. If I have a chance again soon, I'd probably put it up against the Fly-Z or LTD in the Rogue Black.

 

I've also been hitting the Cobra F7/F7+ (at a different sim) in Fuji Pro. The best comp I feel is the F7 where I averaged 135-137 mph, with a max of 141. When DSG puts the new Callaways out to demo I'll have a better head to head. I really wasn't that interested in the Epic before today, and the starting price point may leave me out for a year or two.

Got our fitting cart in today. Hit the SZ vs my M2. Numbers were very similar, but I seemed to hit the SZ straighter. I like the overall feel and weight of the SZ better as well.

 

M2 had the Rogue Black 65 and the SZ had the Fuji Pro Green 62.

demos hit our shop today too.... looks like Hazardous Fuji pro green and rogue M-ax are stock shafts... also saw 3 woods... sub zero and standard epic models.. both look good.... orders started coming in today too.. said they would arrive before the launch date of the 27th... which i think is the M1 launch as well... but no TM demos yet ...

I am very interested in what Rick Shiels says. I know the gains I saw vs. my G25. His swingspeed is considerably faster than mine, but I like his reviews.

That's a pretty low launch. I'm guessing you like a lot of roll with that low of launch and a whiteboard in there. I'm sure that is a pretty low spin setup.

 

Will be great to hear comparisons now that they are showing up in shops.
