New 2017 TaylorMade M1 Driver?

Will Callaway or another Mfg close in on TM this year? Looks like Tmag continues to dominate the long drivers on tour.

What really matters is retail sales. So far at our location for 2017 models, the score is:

Callaway Epic and Fusion, 14+5 = 19

M1 and M2. 3+3 = 6

Our other stores report similar ratios.

That would make sense looking at BST........Loaded with new Cally drivers.

LOL! For me I struggle with the look of the Epic's, while it might perform I just can't get past the shape. The Epic SZ for me was not as pleasing to the eye as the original Subzero which I have since sold.

I recently ordered a 3HL and left the tipping "Standard" thinking it would be tipped 1" as the manufacturer recommends. I ordered the White Tie by the way, the same exact shaft I have in the driver. Well sure enough, TM fugged it up and it is tipped 2 inches and no one I know can get the dang 16.5 off the ground and the shaft feels like hot garbage.

Now I have to reshaft it. Bummer. Why TM does this crap is beyond me. So stupid.

I'm guessing if you go soft as possible on fairways it would still be tipped a .5"(manufacturers recommended tipping) correct? If nothing is specified(standard) it would be 1.5"?

I don't know about you guys, but I prefer the paint scheme in the'16 vs the '17. I plan on getting a TI M2 ('16) and possibly the M2 Tour HL (I love my AB TP 3HL but if the M2 has a better more muted feel, I'm in).

I would call Tm and complain. Tell them that the golfwrx message boards are lit up with this issue and all you tried to do is order standard and the completely pooch d your shaft. Had I had known 6 mos earlier last year I would have complained. Call the 1800 #. They'll be sympathetic and let them know we have your back!

Even though I have one, I'm not going to be too surprised if the Epic series is a "launch monitor" wonder, especially at a place like GolfTown where we won't be able to see real results for another couple of months. Relying on a GC2 indoors...We may see huge sales right now, but the real test will be at the end of the season, where M2 gained the traction last year.

That won't happen unless TMade starts to hot melt at the factory....2017 M2 is the worst sounding driver of any of the top five for 2017....

Call the Carlsbad customer support, there are a few guys there who will help. Make sure you point them to Matrix site & tipping instructions & most likely they will swap out the shafts.

Their Custom department is a HOT FRIGGEN MESS.

Is the Carlsbad number a different one than their normal customer service line? My shaft is tipped 1" and the loft is approximately 1.6* lower (6.9*) than it should be.

Are people playing traditional lofts? Or lofting up? Should I be looking at SLDR lofts or something more traditional? I tend to hit around 0 to -1 for AoA with a driver, so I need to make sure I get enough loft to start.

If you get a 10.5 head I can't imagine you'd need more than 12.5 on a driver and I suspect with a pretty level AoA you won't really even bother with the 8.5 setting.

The M1 440 is definitely low launch & low spinning, but I went 9.5 putting in a higher launching shaft to offset it. IMO if you go 440 you probably should consider the loft up routine.

Yea, I plan to put a AD MT 7x into it, so I'll probably get a 9.5 head which will give me a little room on either end.

What store? In North Carolina 2016 M2 is outselling epic 4 to 1...

Golfdata tech numbers don't support what you're saying at all. Callaway is slaughtering Taylormade and it's not even close. I don't expect someone with the name Taylormadeluv to acknowledge that though

Datatech or not, the in store sales would disagree. Epic when put up against cobra's ltd and 2016/2017 TM stuff is the least forgiving and least accurate when doing fittings. Reminds me of SLDR, great in the middle of the club, everywhere else, watch out!

New Bag in the making...

Finally decided to put my Kuro Kage Tini Black into the 2017 M1 440 head. Just needed a little trust on my part and wow, something finally knocked my R15 430 out of the bag.... Weight set all the way back and all the way to draw. Very impressed with this combo for me.
