Hat Storage - How do you do it?

I thought I had a lot of hats but some of you guys put me to shame.

 

This is a topic I have been considering for months. My hats are stacked on top of each other in 4 piles on the top shelf of a closet. Bad part is after time, I get lazy and the stacks get unstable and before too long when I get one end up with a hat avalanche. I need to do something.

 

Hey, that's me too. All my course hats are hanging on the walls of my den. But the wearable ones are just stacked. Probably 40-50 up there (after I threw out that many trying to reduce my"stuff").

 

No matter which hat I want out of the closet,I'm going to get a half dozen falling out.

I was being facetious Lol. It feels like 8k. It's 14 dozen at the moment. 3 ammo boxes of zstars and 5 dozen in regular boxes.

Exactly how they're stored in the store. Back pushed to front. It helps keep the sturdiness of the back of the hat that doesn't have interfacing.

Never know around here. I don't even have that many rounds of live ammo. Close, though.

Various closet shelves, back of the Jeep, workbench in garage, occasional door hinge, counter top - wherever they land.

I only have three that I'll wear, and they stay in my trunk next to my clubs, backup gloves, and golf balls waiting to be used. My old ones sit on the top of my dresser with the rest of my hats.

if you are not looking to display them what i do is I took an shoe box, the best kind are the ones not with a typical lid but more of the drawer stlye. Look at a Jordan or Lebron box. The hats fit nicely in there. I keep the box in my trunk and just slide it open when I get to the course and I have 10 or so hats to choose from.

 

Same here, shoe box is the way to go for me. I stack the ones I am not wearing in the top of my closet in a few shoe boxes then the rest that are in the daily rotation go on the top of my coat rack. Shoe box is great for travel too, easy to pack on golf trips and you don't have to worry about your hats getting all messed up in your luggage.

I've got probably a dozen hats in the back seat. I've got a trunk organizer, but after a round I just toss the hat in the back. I embrace the lazy.

 

Push the back in and toss em in the top of my closet...which is full of hats. Going to regress and start throwing some in the car too.

Currently I am using the wall racks from Lids in my man cave room. I have about twice as many hats as I can fit on the racks at the moment though. i guess you can see i am a big Chicago sports fan (except for the White Sox), but there is one golf hat on the wall section.

When I went off to school I had to improvise space, so the visors went on the wall and got one of these bins for the hats

I have a couple of these. Mine are mounted to the wall instead of on a door. I have one in the corner by the closet and one inside the closet. Each slot has the ability to hold 3 hats.

I keep my hats down in my golf club workshop along with my shoes and spare bags, clubs. Shoes get the shelf treatment while the hat are hung on the walls surrounding the shoe shelf. I bought some round cabinet handles and inserted them into the drywall with some epoxy. Sturdy and easy to locate what I'm wanting to wear for the day as well as removing/replacing after the round.

I think I have 2 hats that get worn on the golf course. I very rarely wear a hat off the course anymore. The 2 that I do either get tossed behind my seat in the truck (I have a single cab truck, so no backseat), tossed on the dash in the corner where the windshield meets the A pillar, or get tossed on the counter in the kitchen if I end up wearing them inside. I wear them till they are stained and smell, then wash them. If they come out looking bad, they get tossed and I buy a new one. If they look ok, I repeat the process.

this is a major problem that needs to be addressed with a wife friendly solution. I won't stop buying hats and she won't quit busting my balls about my hats.

I bought a few cheap adjustable rods and clips from Bed Bath & Beyond. It's a very affordable and versatile solution.
