Buddy gave me a ride in a huracan and I happened to have the Spider with me

I can post one from my coupe later today...only problem is its a Honda.

edit: does he ever take it to a track? Those Huracan's are great track cars.

You are right, but unfortunately I dont think it will ever see the track. Ok last pic of the beast. On a sidenote. There is a sticker on the windshield saying that the car's bumber can only withstand a collision at 2.5 mph. Lol

Brother... Didn't you learn your lesson about posting photos of your putter inside other people's cars the last time?

Most have said on here that the red is a little bit softer than the black. But which one offers more feedback if you have an off-centre hit? I'm slightly worried that the red one may be like the soft Odyssey O-Works. I found the O-Works were too soft to offer any real feedback on off-centre hits. Before someone recommends to me rolling the red vs the black, neither model is available in proximity to where I live so I can't roll them unfortunately.

I would go with the black, if I were you.

Personally, I like a firm feeling putter specifically for the additional feedback it gives me (I've never understood the love for marshmallow soft feel off of the putter, but that's just me). My typical gamer is a stainless steel DH89 with very fine fact milling and a sound slot... I love a loud "tink" or "ping" off of the putter face... this is also a big reason I play the B330 ball (it's very firm).

The black putter (silver insert) is definitely more firm feeling than the red putter (black insert). That said... it's not a "firm" feeling putter (in my opinion). However, it is just firm enough for me to be able to live with. This putter gets the ball started on line better than anything I've ever tried, and is far more forgiving on less than ideal strikes than I expected. It doesn't feel like I want a putter to feel, or even sound like I want a putter to sound, but it's close enough to where I can give that bit up in exchange for the gains and benefits it gives me in other areas.

Will either putter give you "enough" feedback? I'm not sure... ultimately, that's up to you... but the black putter (silver insert) should be much closer to what you're looking for.

Cheers,

Mike

Anyone pulled off the grip and manage to save it?

Yes, twice. The 1st one I received had it one day and insert fell out. So I had to reinstall winn grip to take back to Golf Galaxy so that they could replace it. The 2nd one removed grip as well no issues. I just use the flat tool from Golf Works and plenty of mineral spirits. Just take your time and use a twisting method.

No issues what so ever.

Yes the red one has the softer of the 2 inserts. I went with the black because I already have numerous Odysseys and wanted a firmer feel. Now with that being said it depends on which red one (with line or without) but I am pretty sure the both have the softer inserts along with the platinum version.

Thank you for that wonderful analysis. I do like putters on the softer side but the O-Works was much too soft IMO. It's sounds like the Tour Red would suit me as it appears to be soft but not very soft.

Pulled the trigger today and got the Spider Red Limited from last year; really like the face weighted putter and couldn't get used to the new Tour Necks on the DJ and JDay. Got the setup of the Silver/Platinum one, with the look and feel of the red. Love it - can't wait to play this weekend.

Legend thanks mate. Spoke with my Pro he is going to do it for me and cut it down an inch.

If I wanted to have a 34.5 inch Spider Tour, would I be better off extending a 34 inch putter or cutting down a 35 inch putter?

In this case, probably easier to just cut down a 35" shaft and regrip because this putter allows you to adjust weights to get the desired feel, if you have any.

In the case of other putter styles you would consider the head weight and determine from there. Other brands may have heavier head weights in shorter lengths and lighter headweights in the longer lengths.

Some manufacturers allow for custom lengths when ordering as well.

I was regripping my JD spider and there is about a 5.5 inch extension that goes into the black shaft. Are all these spiders the same? This putter is 35 inches so I find it hard to believe someone was playing this at 29.5 inches. Should I be concerned about authenticity? I've included a few pictures. Everything else on the putter looks right.

I got mine directly from TM and regripped it right away. There was no extension in mine for sure. Did you get yours used? I would think this is a hard club to fake given the shape and the slant hosel but I could be wrong. My guess would be someone chopped it down and changed their mind. Was it the original grip?

I did buy this second hand, and I assume it was cut down as well. It came with a Superstroke 2.0.

I just picked up the Day version. I went back and forth, but I like the Day version better. As for the feel, I don't think the insert is as soft as the odyssey. I feel like it is a little firmer. Love this putter though. I know it is at a golf shop, but I was draining putts from everywhere. 5-10-15-30 footers all going in the cup. Plus if Sergio won a major, it has to be a good putter.
