Mine personally sits square based on my ball position and hand position. Feel is fantastic and distance control is great. It's in the bag for the foreseeable future.

I've always thought this putter was so ugly but I rolled one yesterday and I can't stop thinking about it, it felt amazing. And seeing all these guys winning with it doesn't help. I may have to bite the bullet and drop the $300 for one.

My Spider has 1 degree of loft and the stated loft is 3.5. All these putters are different.

I've only ever rolled blade style putters until recently. The Spider is my first mallet style putter and I don't know if its just the Spider that I love so much, but i'm kicking myself to not opting to game one sooner..

 

I'll just reiterate what i've read in this thread so far but the roll it puts on the ball is great. It starts on the line I intend and rolls so smoothly. Feel is very good too on my DJ version which I preferred over the JD version.

I plan on dissecting this thread after work but could someone tell me are there any differences between the red and the black models besides the colour? I am mostly concerned with whether the feel is soft, medium or hard, the roll and toe hang. According to the Taylormade website, the specs on the 2 are the same.

Probably because TM knows that the small percentage of the market that prefers 33" putters is already aware of how easy it is to have an inch cut off of a 34" version.

Well I got mine last week but when I opened it up there were three dents on the face of the insert. It wasn't on the grooves it was to the side. I was really disappointed but I called TM today and they're sending out a replacement.

 

The loft on this putter seems way off and while the insert sits flush with the face the face itself didn't look perfectly flat. I had someone else check it out and they thought it was off as well.

 

The quality control seems pretty poor. If the replacement sits wonky or if something else is wrong I'll prob return both and ask for a refund.

Same here. I always thought I preferred alignment aides also. Not having one has made me realize how distracting they were. I do put a line on my ball, but not having the alignment aid on the putter allows me to simply trust the line and concentrate on speed/distance. My distance control is so much better with the DJ than any other putter I've had. Love the look, the feel, the weight .... Just an awesome putter.

Just checked availability for a customer today for ordering - here is what I got from TM

DJ Black model - 6/23 for both 34 and 35"

JD Red model - 5/22 for both 34 and 35"

Platinum model - 5/30 for 34" and 6/19 for 35"

I guess they can't keep with the demand.

Just a suggestion, once you drop $200+ on any putter have the loft and lie setup to your style of putting, if you stand eyes over the line of the putt, it's got to sit flat or if you're a stand back from line putter it needs set for you, you can't except off the shelf, I've never had a club come even custom ordered from callaway or mizuno with my specs. Not a lot of places adjust putters, it like a $1200 machine, most people I talk to don't even know a putter can be adjusted, best $5 I spend on every putter I buy.

I just got my left hand DJ version and I love it. I was shocked with how square it sits. Most putters I have used always roll open a tab so this was a pleasant surprise considering the ongoing debate.

I love the look of these but I have not jumped on one because of my previous experience with the white "s slant" from a few years ago. Back then, I had wanted a slant neck spider for so long...finally it was released and I snapped one up. At first I was amazed...it was one of the most automatic putters I've ever owned for putts inside 15 feet, but my lag putting was a complete nightmare with it; when it cooled off a little on the shorter ones I finally had to send it on its way. I play my putters at 35 inches, and with that "s slant" head weighing in at 360g it swing-weighed at a whopping head heavy F0. I think the total weight was about 520g, which is nearing the top end of what I want.

 

So can anyone please comment on if they have checked a JD version's swing weight and total weight at 35 inches? I'm not really interested in counter weighting and adding to total weight for the sake of reducing a head-heavy feel. I know the heads are 355g and I just kinda wish they were about 10-15g's lighter. Maybe I'm way off base though. And maybe I will like it anyway this time. I did roll one recently and liked it but that was just on a small golf shop putting green.
