Colin Montgomerie / Tim Rosaforte Chilly Interactions

Am I the only one, or does Tim Rosaforte seem to very much dislike Colin Montgomerie? No laughing at Colin's funny quips, no agreement with his observations - Seems Rosaforte would much prefer to be on a different set than the one he's sharing with the rising broadcast star of Colin Montgomerie...

 

 

Of course, I don't think I'd enjoy sitting at the pool next to Brad Pitt either... I can only suck in my gut for so long.

And his swing is a top five all time tempo reverse c IMHO...

 

I could watch him swing all day every day...

 

And he's a nice guy to boot...I can't speak for his reputation but tend to prefer my own experiences to the media's portrayal of a person.

I don't know who Tim Rosaforte is, but I side with him on this occasion.

 

Colin is incapable of speaking a sentence without mentioning the Ryder Cup... especially when he was captain. Zzzzzzzz

Love Colin. I think he had a bit of a bad reputation because of the era he grew up in in regards to TV/Media. I think a lot of what Colin has said in the past was/is similar to the types of remarks Rory has spoken when he speaks his mind openly on a subject. Neither are afraid to ruffle feathers or throw out a controversial quote IMO. Differences are Rory typically gets applauded for his thoughts and it always seemed to me that Monty was vilified for his opinions. Colin continues to speak his mind and was a world class player during his era. His biggest fault is never winning a major or a tournament on US soil. I have a lot of respect for him and the way he carries himself.

I don't mind Brandel all that much....the biggest problem i have with him is his use of "uh" or "and uh" entirely too much. For a person who prides themselves on speaking well and being knowledgeable. he does himself a disservice with all of the "uhs" he constantly throws in for no reason.

 

It's aggravating to listen to and off putting IMO.

Upon talking to people who've known him, they paint a different picture of Monty. Monty even admitted a few years ago, he may have not been the best example of friendliness when here in the USA. I met him at the PGA Show this year. What I was told was true. He couldn't have been a nicer guy and very accommodating. My opinion was changed by actually interacting with him.

I had a friend that met him at the Masters a couple of years ago and he said he was chatty....maybe a little sarcastic. Told him something like....you could place your ball at the edge of every green and still be lucky to break 80 at Augusta because the greens are so fast and tricky.

Could care less what Rosaforte thinks about Monty or golf in general. He and his thoughts are completely irrelevant and not required.

I always look forward to his commentary and analysis. Rosaforte is just an "insider" which means he has a nom de plume on WRX somewhere.

Nothing to really add except the fact that I feel Rosaforte's breaking news is generally something that can be found here on WRX an hour earlier. Mentions his "sources" every time he's interviewed. Ya, it's called player's twitter feed.

If what you say is accurate, I would admonish "Rosie" to get over himself. I am pretty agnostic on Rosie, but I will say that he is awfully damn proud to be in the "mix" with the playas. I know he recently has been inducted into a Hall of Fame or two and you have to respect that. He sure seems to go beyond reporter to truly be an "insider" as per his job description. Not sure I would like him if I were a tour guy, but I am not, so I enjoy his gossipy little tidbits about the "boys" at the "hang", and who is beating who in the "money game" at Seminole or Medalist or Bear's Club.

I'm pretty sure Montgomery's follow through was the model for every golf trophy I ever had. You know, the one you look at and go "that follow through doesn't look real at all".

I like both Rosie and Monty....I don't understand the hate Rosie gets on this post....I always found him to be respectful and one of the few reporters I can actually listen to....He has a good relationship with the players because he actually respects their privacy and doesn't push them for controversial quotes or add excess drama like most other reporters....I find Monty to be sometimes hilarious....I like guys that don't mind giving their opinion....What I hate is the total PC responses most players give....Actually, Rory being so blunt is what made me a fan of his in recent years.

When a legendary player is on set discussing The Masters in entertaining fashion - Rosaforte staring off in a different direction says something.... What exactly I don't know - But it looked like just plain old green jealousy of Monty.

 

In other settings with other talent they generally are all engaged in the discussion or topic. Maybe it was Monty's golden locks that were the issue... ;)

Might be reading too much into it. Yes, Monty was icy with the media (and lots of other people) during his career, but grew to drop that barrier and show his true personality. Jovial, smart, not afraid to voice an opinion and back it up. I don't think there is anything to it; Rosie likely quieter out of respect to Monty and the weight of his opinions.

I love Monty, nowhere near as much as Monty loves Monty but that's beside the point.

Rosie is an absolute joke as a reporter, has trouble stringing a sentence together most of the time and only gets info because he's been doing it for longer than anyone else.

I did not notice any chilly interaction between the two. TR is just a low key kind of guy.
