Classiest, most liked guy on tour?

After Roses showing at the Masters: What other guys do you pick for exemplary behaviour on and off the golf course?

I pick:

- Rosie

- Kaymer

- Fowler

- Kuchar

I don't pick:

- Mickelson (his "always smile" looks a bit fake to me)

- Spieth (don't like his antics on the course. Cursing, slow play, play-by-play on every shot)

- Bubba (Bubba being Bubba, no other reasons)

- Harrington

I'm pretty sure that Golf Digest did a poll on this sort of thing a couple years ago and the guy that came out on top was Steve Stricker and he came out on top by a pretty decent margin.

Also agree that Rickie has his sh*& together. Very classy that he was front row at the opening ceremony last week and could tell he was choked up. He could be a punk and the younger crowd would still love him but he is anything but that. Respectful of the game, classy on the course , plays quick, no outbursts..think he gets my vote.

But has mentioned Adam, Kuch, Strick, Rosey all good guys.

Els, Stricker, Scott, Furyk, Kaymer, Kuchar, Fowler, "Meat", Donald, Weekly.

Still don't understand why Rickie was the only pro who showed up at the Opening ceremony. Where TF were the other players? You are all in the area, or on the grounds...get your butts over to the first tee and honor the guy who has enabled you to provide for your families...by MAKING MONEY PLAYING GOLF !!!!

Paul Goydos

I followed him at Quail Hollow a few years back when he was still fairly competitive on the regular tour. He was awesome. I've always considered him the every-man of golf.

He plays fairly fast and has no reservations about interacting with the fans during his round. On the 12th hole his approach found a difficult lie in a green-side bunker. After seeing what he faced for his third, he turned to the gallery and asked if someone would mind coming and hitting the shot for him. Everyone laughed. I can't remember if he got up-and-down, but I will always remember his willingness to be self deprecating and fan friendly.

To the OP - Is this thread about the most liked guy on tour by fans or by the other players?

Since we dont play on tour and see what goes on behind the scenes....all we could vote for is what we see on tv and read as fans. I'd put stricker right up there based on that.

A person's on course/TV behavior is not necessarily indicative of whether or not he's the "classiest - most liked guy on tour". To judge the titled characteristic you would need to look much deeper into the person's overall behavior, just just the superficial "likeability" they display on TV.

I don't personally know any tour players so all I know is what one hears on the TV broadcasts and such and Nick Price is the guy I've heard the most about as being a nice guy. There is a LONG thread on this same topic in the archives and Nick is mentioned several times in that thread too.

Harold Varner III is developing a wonderful reputation amongst tour players and the media but that doesn't come as a surprise to me. He's from my hometown. Although I've never met Harold, those that know him speak very highly.

I've had interaction with Mark Hubbard several times during practice rounds at the Wells Fargo. He is a really cool guy.

I'm very impressed by the under 30 guys on tour. They're very polished and represent the game in an exemplary manner.

To me, Spieth is definitely one of my favorites. If for no other reason, he's a favorite because of the way he is with his sister. I also have a sister with physical and mental disabilities and I'll just say that it's the minority of people in that situation that still give them the time of day, have them around, etc.. I always have been, and always will be a big fan of Jordan because of this. He's that little girl's hero, and he plays the part just fine.

Kuch, Sned's, Goydos (just seems like a blast), Weekly, Furyk etc.. and I've been surprised to see such an alignment on Fowler. I 100% agree and think he's a class act. Always respectful, takes time for the fans, went to the olympics... etc.

The only guy I've really met and had more than a 2 second interaction with was Rocco, and he was a great guy too.

Alfred E Snedeker. Fast play, Great temperament, seems open and friendly. Funny looks...

Sören Kjeldsen. Extremely polite(I have seen him live several times), funny, friendly, great reactions and temperament.

Seconded. I was a walking scorer for his group at the Abu Dhabi tournament a few years back. 7am tee off and there is nobody but the players, caddies and me. Very friendly, polite and quite chatty at times. Also hits the ball sickeningly straight.

A friend of mine had the chance to meet Martin Kaymer a few times (professional circumstances). Although these meetings weren't private but business related he showed a very classy behaviour. He took way more time as was needed and my friend had quite a long conversation about his game, his life and so on with him.

My friend told me, that he is a very humble person. The total opposite of arrogant. His "stardom" is in a way stress for him. He likes it low key in private life.

P.S.: His demeanor on the course might not suggest it .... but he is quite a funny guy with lots of humor.

This isn't meant to be controversial in any way, and it's not meant at anyone in particular here, but as many have pointed out, we, as the public, know little about these players, outside of what we've seen on TV.

That being said, if you've paid attention in the past, you can gather up a bit of information that lets you in on what someone may or may not really be like, out of the public eye. I've seen a few people named as negatives who I can also name as strong humanitarians. I've seen some people named a favorite, who are quite the opposite.

It'd be interesting to see one of these threads be based off of well informed opinions of individuals sometime. If we are talking about what we like to see on TV and on the course, then this is fair game, but I've seen these threads turn into what we like / dislike personally about a lot of these guys, and those opinions seem to be under-informed at times, and I don't exclude myself from this category either.
