What putter do you use and love? and why?

Byron Morgan SS Dh89 350 g.

 

Just a work horse. I like the milling, to hang, weight, and material. No maintenance and tough as nails. Scratch it up and lightly sand blast it all away.

85020 Anser. Hazy/rusted original shaft. A little too upright but perfect. PP58 cord just replaced the crooked petrified pro only. Immediately back in the bag. May never come out. Bought it at a garage sale for $6 when I was 14.

I have 2.... 2 that i love and that wont ever be sold... and i have owned a ton of really nice sticks..

 

1. Tour Newport AOP Longneck 350G head with soundslot and small T stamp...i have owned it since 1998 and until 2014 was only putter i owned... then i found this site ..lol its battle tested..raw and rusty... But she just works...

 

2. currently in the bag and never to be sold is a GSS 009 that has a long story ..... dont ask .. i cant say.. what i can say is that it was given to me by a Mentor . And for that reason is very special to me.. I smile almost anytime i pull the headcover off.. and that positive vibe makes it hard to think of ever replacing it in the bag.. and she rolls the rock as well !

Odyssey WHP #7 and tour issue Versa #7H (WHP insert). Shorten both putters to 33" and fitted them with SS CounterCore Mid Slim 2.0.

I too was fitted for Edel putter 3 years ago. Big improvement from everything else before that. And then this year picked up Evnroll ER7 mallet putter. I love the consistency on mid to long range distance. The stroke feels incredibly stable.

I hated the grip on this, but I put a Super Stroke Pistol on it and I am in love again. I will never get rid of this putter, it finally kicked the Anser2 from the 80's out of my bag. I have added some putter tape to the bottom and a sliver of ordinary scotch tape to the top line. Since this putter no longer has a finish the glare off the top was unbearable. The weight of this putter is fantastic, and it really allows me fantastic distance control. It also feels very soft as it's carbon. I have a few other Camerons, Studio Design 1.5, Newport Tei3 and a Stainless Monterey, but this one feels the best.

In the bag is a 2015 Scotty Fastback heavy.

 

Seems a flow neck or heel shafted, less offset & near face balanced is my bet fit. Not fool proof & a bit ugly but stopped me buying more Scottys to only have to sell again a few months later.

 

+1 for getting fit. Hope to do a studio fitting when I'm on family vacation next year & get a tour version of my gamer...and be done with putter shopping...maybe

Ben Hogan Bettinardi baby Ben since it came out; paired with a SS mid slim 2.0. Feels great and sets up straight. This one will have to be pried from my cold dead hands.

Sets my eyes perfectly, Alignment is simple, feels like butter and rolls it pure and works well with my cross-handed grip.

For use: Scotty Cameron Circa 62 III Asian Spec at 350 grams, 34", Studio Design Grip, stepped CT shaft - just the most reliable putter I game.

 

Love: Scotty Cameron 009 CuP at 350 grams, 34", Black Pittard's Leather Grip, stepless Fujikura graphite shaft - reliable and easy on the eyes.

 

There are others, if it's about eye candy.

Putt 20 footers with eyes closed...also right hand only for 10 mins before putting the other on the grip. I also bought an arc trainer that can be placed on green using tees and you can practice toe open and closed all day long with help. It works best obviously if you have some toe hang.

 

I'm always enamored with my SSB Okracoke no sightline. Raw finish and regular Iomic pistol grip just works!

Averaging 2 putts with my Bettinardi Hogan HB-11 (raw finish head and 35"" shaft). Picked it up it for $10 in as-new condition a couple of years ago, while on a vintage Hogan iron ho-ing bender. Although it's not a sought after Bettinardi, I couldn't care less because after installing a superstroke 3.0 grip this putter is superb. My other putters are an odyssey 2 ball and an acushnet bullseye wide flange, but there is no point using them at the moment.

Bring in Bettinardi bb8 (yes I know not as exclusive)

Blank tri sole

No sight line (huge distraction for me putting )

348g head weight , solid milled head, no insert BS

Fly mill face with dark finish

 

@ 34.75" d9 sw , perfect feel and balance

 

If I where to get a Cameron with the same features , would cost me +2500 - 3000k ,

I read the Art of Putting Stan Utley book and went to a "Newport" style putter as he suggested. Got a custom Gauge Design putter in 2010 that has never left my bag since. Love that putter, wish he still was in business.

My Callaway Tuttle. I always thought they were beautiful and finally got one last year. I love the way it feels, especially with the PURE round grip from Edel. Best part - I make a lot of putts with it. Never thought a putter would be my favorite club.

Byron Morgan DH89 with a blue oil finish that's pretty worn, gripmaster jumbo max grip, dot for alignment, 8g of lead tape in the cavity, and a welded long pipe. It won't win any beauty contests but this thing sets up just RIGHT for me and it makes putts.

My Ping Anser Milled is my favorite I've ever owned hands down. I leave it out of the bag (when I'm not playing) and setting up against the wall so I can roll it any time I want...which is all the time. It just feels so quality and sets up so square it's ridiculous. I have it at 34in and use a Golf Pride Tour Tradition grip with three wraps under at the moment. Still grip testing but I really like this one so far! Plus, I do love the sound slot and the small "ping" when you strike one pure..mmmmm I'm gonna go roll a few more...

Ping Karsten Anser 1959, perfect weight, great feel and I have a super freaky space alien distance control with it. Same model Martin Kaymer used until recently. I keep trying nut I just cant knock it out of the bag.

Guerin Rife Deep Blue. The roll is what I like best, followed by weight and looks. It kicked a Scotty Newport out of my bag.

Since the first time I placed it in my hands, I knew this was "my putter" Scotty Cameron Red X. I have been fortunate to win several times due the constant feel I have with this putter. The only thing I change is the weight, if slow greens add weight, fast greens take away weight. I see all these people changing putters like most people change underwear, but not this country boy. This putter has found a home, a new home, but it is here to stay. :taunt:
