McCord and Dottie are instant sound off on the TV. I can usually sync up PGATour radio feed as they seem to work off of the TV feed at times. Fox covering golf is a travesty. European Tour is enjoyable to me in that they don't talk just to fill dead air. Give me Terry Gannon, Judy Rankin, Feherty, Jerry Foltz, and Frank Nobilo for any tournament.

 

The best "booth" pair in my opinion? Michael Breed and Brian Katrek when they cover the PGA Championship via the online video feed. Give them a try.

Give me any broadcasting team that people generally don't listen to or haven't heard about. I personally like to listen to delayed feeds in languages I can't understand. It helps me really focus on the televised golf which is very extremely entertaining all by itself. I don't need a bunch of commentary about the courses I've never played, just give me a GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLL, when the final putt drops. You see, this approach helps me to differentiate myself in the grillroom.

 

Just last weekend, Ted was giving me guff about my man bun after I closed bogey-triple-double to shoot net 68 and lose three ways on the $5 Nassau. I told the barkeep to turn it to the Euros so I could talk a lot about how they don't talk so much. He told me to F off, everyone left my table, and I finally got to eat my kale and quinoa salad that I brought from home in peace!

At least McCord tries to add some colour. The euro tour broadcasts have dead air for like 5 minutes, then you can audibly hear the announcers waking up, then casually saying something very polite yet general to suit whatever situation they just missed.

 

 

I prefer that old deadpan style. Plus the euro broadcasts show more golf. more golf + less talking heads = enjoyable experience for me

I don't understand this need to listen to announcers you don't like. Simply turn off the sound. The viewer is given enough on screen information that he doesn't need to hear what the announcers have to say.

At first I was pissed that cbs went commercial break, showed 2 shots, commercial break, 2 shots, commercial break but then I realized this kept McCord off the air for 15 minutes.

 

But he is a fellow Arizonian. Not a wee bit of slack for that?

totally agree, i prefer the euro broadcasts. but the ryder cup broadcast from europe is just flat out biased and unwatchable.

Mccord or brandel?

Don't care much for either but if I was stuck in an elevator with one I would take Brandel. He is definitely the more thoughtful and deep thinker of the two. McCord reminds me too much of Krusty the Clown.

I think Feherty has gotten better since leaving. While watching the Irish and Scottish Opens, he was in his element, and I thought, even better.
