Interesting that Paul Lawrie is in the 76 man field for this event, at #364 in the OWGR !

 

Apparently he gets in as the winner of the 2017 Dimension Data Pro-Am on the Sunshine Tour.

 

Good start for him anyway ... a 69 has him in a tie for 15th :)

It is immaculate...obviously never been there or played there. Ohio offers some of the best playing conditions I have seen anywhere in the States.

Day just did the one hand follow through again with the driver. Is it easier on his body or something? He seems to be in pain when walking at times, but he is playing so well!

It is a little dull. Up, back, up ,back. Bowling alley fairways. Meh.

 

I was fortunate enough to play the North course up there last Wednesday with a friend that's a member. Much more interesting and enjoyable. More " character" I think. Just an opinion of course.

 

Condition wise it is amazing right now. We've Had some good rain recently.

I dunno, I do like to watch links but with the Irish, Scottish, Open, then the US Open on a wide open faux-links course, nice to see the world's best players playing standard parkland again.

I like this golf course, punishing you with that thicker grass side of fairways. Unfortunately have to mute my TV because Gary McCord is really shouting at the wrong moments. Let those mikes make the talk and just shut up !

i was a guest tv commentator for about 20 years for all the important golf tournaments in my country including some international events such as the 1977 World Cup. Colgate-Palmolive Ladies Invitational in 1976-77. the Johnnie Walker skins game in 1991 plus some events in the Asian Golf Circuit..

 

i was mostly a hole announcer but would sometimes do anchor duties on the 18th hole when needed..

 

as a hole announcer i followed a personal guideline not to harp on anything which the tv audience could see for themselves and tried to relay what the players themselves were thinking such as other ways to play a particular shot, wind direction, distances of drives and second shots,clubs used, breaks of greens, course conditions and the like..

 

i particularly disliked reciting scores which are already on the screen unless there was something unique about it like he was 4 under until he finished with 2 doubles, etc,,etc..

 

i guess i was more in the mold of the european announcers who are more concentrated on the golf action vs some US announcers who seem in love with their voice..

 

and modesty aside..i got a lot of compliments on my style and content..

 

and i respect all anchors because it's a lot more difficult vs a hole announcer specially when there's no script and the director is screaming instructions in your earphone if he doesn't like what your saying..

Watching woodland and Horschel live on the internet right now. First group out and no cut tournament means these guys most likely wouldn't have been around for a regular stop. Horschel in particular hacking it around like a 7 handicap.
