so you took your black wedges and just dipped them in vinegar to strip them?

i was just perusing through the wedgeworks options for SM6...and was thinking about going that route. i'll probably switch from a 52/58 setup to a 50/54/58, so keeping good wedges is going to get way more expensive.

CLR works a bit faster in my experiences, lus you can pour it back in the bottle and reuse if you want to remove rust later.

Does anyone have the Grind specs? I was hoping to try a lower bounce K rather than buying it blindly on wedgeworks.

I don’t think they will have a low bounce in a stock offering...

When are these being released?

I heard to the public March?

March 9th

Same finish. Just with and without the plastic.

Are they more copper or “raw” appearance in-hand?

F...that's pretty late for me. tournaments start in April and if i'm changing from 2 to 3 wedge setup, that's not much time to dial it all in from yardages to short game. i might end up getting the SM6 again.

Why are you changing from 2 to 3 and what setup are you going to?

per sig...i have 52/58 now. i hit a lot of wedges into greens and i need to improve my proximity to give myself more opportunities at birdie. i'm pretty good at hitting a little PW or 52 to make up for the 20yd gaps i have between PW/52/58 (about 140/120/100 +/- 5yds). i'd get rid of the 2i, which i used frequently on shorter holes or tough driving holes. last year i took my FIR % from ~40% to ~65%, and improved control with my driver and 3w significantly. i also play more from farther back tees than i used to, giving me more room for longer clubs.

consquently, i use the 2i less and less. there are about 7 spots on the course where i can hit it wind/tee dependent, and there are 2 spots on the course where i really think it's the proper play, the other 5 it's me being defensive. i might add some loft to the 3w to shorten it a bit, and maybe bend the 3i a tad bit strong. i'll have to experiment with it, but i think giving myself better looks at birdie potentially 7 times per round is more beneficial.

i CAN hit a 58 100/105 with a full swing, but it's gotten to where i'm less and less comfortable doing so. but taking 30yds off of a 52 isn't the easiest thing in the world either. i can do it, and often do, but i'll typically take a more conservative line if i have to do that.

bottom line is i just need to get better with my wedges.

I’m so considering switching to a 60 l grind this year. Have played m grind in 60 for a long time. Still love the 56m. Seems like 56s and 60l on tour though. Did they tweak the m and s grind with new wedges

I think you see a lot of L grind because of the crazy tight nippy lies on many of these premium PGA courses. I've only played one course my whole life in which I was like, yeah which I had a 4* bounce wedge right now.... Otherwise I think most sweepers would be fine with the 8* m.

M can be tough though if you play courses with fluffy sand. I find that it tends to dig a little bit, so you need to be extra sure that you're still shallow into the sand. S grind has a bit more bounce, a little more friendly in the looser sand.

Was at TPI last month and was told the L grind is listed as a “playable” 4 degrees of bounce, but is actually the highest measurable bounce wedge in the line

How is it the highest bounce but "advertised" as 4* ? Ie, playable vs measured... what's the difference? I understand the shape of the sole and grind affects playable bounce, but how does it go from 4* which is very low to being measured as the highest?

Actual bounce is about 21 degrees if I'm not mistaken. Even the PING TS wedge has an actual bounce of 20 degrees although effective bounce is 6 degrees.

Please forgive me if I've missed it in the many pages of this topic; but does anyone have a chart of what the loft/bounce/grind options are with the SM7's?

It looks as though there will be changes from 2017 and the SM6 line. Just as a for instance, I see a couple of 46.10 F-grinds in the early releases to the Titleist tour staff. I don't ever recall a 46.10; at least not recently. I like it, because with so many sets getting stronger lofts, it might be nice to be able to bend a 46.10 into a 45.09 or a 44.08. Instant Vokey Pitching Wedge, for use with something like a set of T-MB's or AP3's, where they are going to 44- and 45- degree pitching wedges. I'm still not sure how comfortable I'll be, with a hollow-bodied PW.

That is always the case. But I recall hearing somebody from Titleist -- Aaron Dill perhaps? -- saying that Jordan Spieth's new SM7's were essentially stock. (I take it to mean, "stock as in what will be stock 2018 retail releases"). And I think Jordan has a SM7 46.10 F-grind. One or two others as well, if I am not mistaken.
