I need my wedges to be 3* upright. So I’ll either have the jet black or splurge for the raw. 52.12 and a 58.12D. I have engage wedges at the moment, had CG 12’s years ago so I’m okay with rust. I just don’t know how badly I want to get new wedges right now! Need to put S400’s in them and plus 1/2” up 3. I haven’t seen where I can order those specs direct.

what's the verdict on black ox vs. raws? anyone noticed the difference in feel?

Some people will tell you that there is no difference. However, I feel a difference.

I stripped a black oxide with CLR, but also had a raw version from wedgeworks. To make sure it was not "placebo effect", I had a buddy test out the wedges. I did not tell him which was which. After he hit them, he immediately said that the Raw was softer and felt better.

Waiting on my delivery from Wedgeworks. SM7 raw 50

Same here. Ordered Raw 46, 50, 54 & 60.

What's your distance gapping? Trying to figure out if I want the 46 or 48 for my club between PW and my 52. PW goes about 150, 52 goes about 110.

What's the loft of your PW? I'm guessing not 46 if you're hitting it 150 and your 52 goes 110.

My gapping is

46 (PW) goes 140

50 goes 125

54 goes 110

60 I never take a full swing so I have no idea on distance

My 50 and 54 distance is not maximum but my comfortable swing. I'm sure I can get another 5-7 yards if I tried to.

Currently playing the Callaway XRs with a 44* PW. I'm thinking the cavity back type clubs go a little further than Vokeys for the equivalent degree loft just based on the springiness of the faces. I'm also playing +1.5" clubs as I'm 6'6 with relatively short arms. Makes my iron distances all a bit further than they should be.

Ideally this new wedge would fly 125-130 on full swings.

Loving the D grind. Been a long time K grind user. Was a big fan of K grind for everything but full shots. Also tried out the Hi toe vs D grind. Really liked the hi toe but I just could not flop off tight lies like I can with the D grind. Hi toe was great at everything else-probably best wedge from bunkers I have tried .If they ever release a hi toe with straighter leading edge I will certainly buy one. Any K grind users who struggle with it on full shots give the D grind a try

Agree. I’ve had a 58* D grind for a couple weeks now and it’s been great. I have a TVD Spin Milled C of C that had been in the bag a long time, but in softer conditions it can still “stuck”. The higher bounce on the D doesn’t seem to have that same issue, but still has the playability.

Same here. I've been a long time K grind player and the D grind is just fantastic around the greens and in the bunkers. I played today in wet rainy condition and the D grind performed great. I love being able to open it up a little to get those slightly higher, softer shots on firm greens. I just couldn't do that with the K grind.

What did you use? They look sweeeet

Clr and scotch Brite and 0000 steel wool. The smell is awful when stripping the finish off though man I never thought it would be this bad!

Edit: I hit them again here's a better photo and an outside one in the sun

Purchased the SM7 58* D on Thursday to replace my SM5 58* K wedge. I use my all my wedges in all conditions as well as full shots. I want them to be as versatile as possible.

Like it so far. Seems to be a little easier to hit a flop (could be in my mind since I paid 150 for it...lol)

Haven’t hit it out of a bunker yet. I’m a digger which is why I played the 58* K. Hope I don’t notice any difference in sand play since the K really worked well.

Also purchased the SM7 50* F to replace an SM5 50* F that I had but have not had much work with it since I put a new Cleveland RTX-3 CB 50* wedge in my bag last weekend.

Would be curious to see how the SM7 56* F compares to the SM5 that I currently own. It’s my understanding that they can’t really change the cog on the middle wedges like they can on gap and lob wedges.

Anyone have any comparisons or insights on the SM7 54-56 Sand wedges?

I finally picked up my three SM7s after having them re-shafted with the i110s that had been in my SM6. Since the SM5 I've been gaming 50, 54 & 58 so will be interesting having gone to the 52,56 & 60. I was on the fence about going with the Tour Chrome but after taking them out of the wrapper I'm really pleased I did. I've got a lot of golf coming up over the next ten days playing in different conditions so I'm looking forward to seeing how they perform in different conditions.

I can try to throw a pic up tonight. So sweet looking. Honestly I like the raw finish as is and if it doesn’t rust I’m completely fine with that. Just ordered up my 60-04 degree a few min ago.

Thanks for the help. Here are the beauties. They play as mean as they look...

Sweet. Did you do the white paint fill yourself? Was thinking of doing the same but wasn't sure how the black finish would handle the acetone....

I did. Also did a Ping-ish White fill on the bottom groove too. The acetone has no effect on the finish. I did it because I didn't want to look like a blind fool while I was grabbing a wedge. In the right light, the black on black stands out OK. But most of the time I was 6 inches from the clubs and squinting.

The trajectory claims on these are pretty accurate. I LOVE where the CG is on these. I can recommend them...and getting fitted for them...enough.

Ha, I had the same problem with SM7 black wedges, I couldn't see the numbers very well in certain light. So I went with brushed chrome.

I just got my SM7 3 days ago and I'm already putting them in my bag for my individual tourney this weekend and MO Sr 4ball next week.

Your wedges looks good with white paintfill.

You and me both I'm not sure I play enough in wet conditions or take bad enough care of them to rust but I like the satin look
