Agreed the raw looks awesome but the tour chorme isnt too bad. After seeing them in person decided to save myself some cash and go with the chrome vs raw.
Same thing I did just bought black ones and stripped myself to raw

Personally, I am really digging the Jet Black finish! I thought the wear marks on the face would bother me but they don't at all ......

They should go chrome, black and raw / oil can (without the extra $). Feel like those are the most popular choices each year. Whatever third option they pick each year doesn’t seem as popular as the others.

Anyone have any comparisons of the SM6 vs SM7s in the 54-56 lofts?

Me too...especially feel. I went to SM6 54.10S and SM7 58.08 from SM4 56.11M (bent to 55.10) and 60.07S. Hung onto the SM4's though.

All clubs play about D5 even though I use 80g steelfibre shafts, but the SM6's feel heavier. I adopted fairly quickly to the SM6 58M, but haven't been comfortable with the 54S. Mostly the grind I think, as it I prefer the way the M sits closer to the ground, and the workability.

I put several grams of DD tape on my old 55M, and played nine holes and did a bit of practice. It feels so much softer to me than the 54 SM6 S grind. Am considering just keeping it in the bag as grooves still have some life. Or getting SM7 54.08M.

I went ahead and purchased the 52-08 F grind and had it bent to 2 degrees weak so now it will play as a 54-10. I had already purchased the 50-08 F grind and the 58-12 D grind. I could have purchased a 56-14 F grind and had it bent 2 degrees strong so it would play 54-12 but they didn’t have any in my area in stock. I really like how the 50-08 plays from the fairway and especially around the green. I’m coming from an SM5 50-12 F grind, so I like the 50-08 and decided to go with the 52 bent to 54. Time will tell

Bend it only 1 deg. You’ll likely enjoy it better. Loft gapping doesn’t need to be perfect, playability does

I made an impulse purchase of a 60.12D recently and really like it so far. Much better results than with the Ping Glide ES it replaces. Seems to zip through the rough without losing as much speed and control as the ES and it works great out of firm/wet bunkers. Maybe not quite ideal in softer sand but still OK

I only carry 13 clubs at the moment and there’s a bit of a gap between the 54-degree S wedge in my Ping iron set (which I love for full swings, not the greatest around the greens) and the new Sm7 LW. Thinking of adding a 56 in the extra spot.

Which would play most like the 60.12D? The 56.10S or maybe have a 54.08M bent weak to 56 degrees?

Or just keep it simple with a 56-degree F grind? I am worried it might be a bit clunky like the G set wedges.

I intentionally removed the black finish on my SM6’s and imo these SM7 raw wedges are way better in appearance. Ridiculous though that they have to charge more for the raw but whatever

How did you remove the black finish?

If you search on GolfWRX you can find many threads on how to remove the Jet Black finish from the SM6 and SM7 wedges. I personally cleaned the wedges, rinsed, dried, and wiped down with denatured alcohol to get rid of any other remaining residues. Once dry, submerge the entire head in distilled white venegar for 1 hour, remove, rinse under water, then scour the head with a ScotchBrite green pad "with the grain". Repeat the vinegar bath a couple time if you want but after two cycles they're pretty good.

How did you remove the black finish?

Clean well if not new

Tape off ferrules with painters tape

Soak on clr for about an hour

Rub with fine scotch brite until the finish beads up and falls off (recommend wearing rubber gloves and well ventilated area)

Soak again in clr for 30-60 mins

Rub again with scotch brite or #0000 steel wool depending on how much you took off after clr bath

Once most the finish is off just keep dipping in clr and go to town with #0000 steel wool

I finished with a little alcohol to just clean off when I was done don't know if it's really necessary or not but I did.

I saw an SM7 52.08F and SM6 52.12F side by side today and was surprised how much wider the sole was on the SM7. I say “surprised” because none of Titleist’s marketing material and none of the SM7 reviews I’ve seen online mentioned that.

Is it just that one loft or are all the SM7’s a smidge wider than the equivalent SM6? Or is the 8-degree bounce sole just wider than the 10-degree?

Sm7 any better out of the toe than the sm6? Lose so much distance with a slight miss hit.

I think the SM7 are much worse out of the toe than SM6. I bought the raw 52 and 58 SM7 and hate them with a passion. They feel dead to me. Exact same setup, shaft etc as the SM6 I have and like except the SM6 are the black finish. Actually made me start looking for other wedges like Mizuno and Cleveland :)

Just got my Raw SM7 50F, 54M and 58M in today and I'm very impressed with them initially. Look is fantastic, feel is great for cast and the grinds just fit my swing. I've avoided Vokeys since I had an old 200 series that I absolutely hated in the early 2000s, but the SM7 have me very happy coming from Callaway MD3 which I really liked.

Question for all of you that are doing the raw finish to your wedges... Is there a way to raw the wedge, and then re-seal the wedge (excluding the face) to help prevent rusting?

Love the look of the raw, non shiny finish, just not a fan of the rust.. (A bit of rust on the face wouldn't be too bad)

I have them in 50 / 54 / 58 and am really impressed. I like the 50 so much that I decided to replace my PW with the SM7 46, and after two range session I am really glad I did. I have the feeling that it offers me more options around the green, it is better for partial shots and I do not feel that I gave anything away on full shots.

IMO there's no need to "seal" the wedge after you remove the black.

The Jet Black finish on SM7's, when stripped of the black finish, will not be completely raw like a true raw wedge from WedgeWorks or tour issue. My SM6's never rusted (2 years old) and my SM7's barely show patina around the topline and they've been through the ringer this year weather wise.

Attended the Canadian National Fitting Centre at Eagles Nest yesterday.

Another incredible experience and facility.

I was able to hit every conceivable option out of bunkers to start, with sand conditions to mimic my regular conditions.

With my shallow angle, the 54.10 S and 58.08 M were the best option. Too much bounce and I couldn’t get through the sand. Next hit a ton of short and long pitches, flops etc.

Ordered them in Raw and can’t wait to get them here.

I have a 46/50/54 in the tour chrome SM7’s and played the milled grinds since they came out and the Vokeys run circles around the MG’s in my opinion. Still have a Hi-Toe 58/60 in the bag but been pondering a 58 degree D grind.
