Tattoo and Golf?

Cketola13

Recommended Posts

I would only cover a tattoo for a job interview, and if a job required me to wear long sleeves. Any other time, to hell with other people’s opinions. I got my tattoos for me, not for anyone else’s approval. If someone doesn’t like them, that’s their problem.

On a golf course?? Nah, they can get over it.

I have rather large tattoos on both of my calves (mothers family crest on one and fathers on the other). I refuse to wear pants on the course in the summer just to cover them because someone might not like them.

I like the dress code and golf clothes. Even on courses where a tee shirt would be allowed I wear a collar. Just wondering how long my sleeves should be haha

Not sure I'd be as excited as playing through the Florida summers if I had to wear long pants and sleeves!

I'm about ... ~80% covered. This includes both sleeves, hands, all knuckles, left side of my neck, stomach, a full back piece, most of my right leg and everything below the knee on my left leg.

I, of course, am a stickler for proper attire and have been since I was a kid ... well before any of all this came along. And this being Southern California; that almost always means shorts and a short sleeved shirt. (All black, thanks)

That said, I couldn't possibly care less what anyone thinks of them - socially or professionally. And honestly, never once had a problem - and I've been to some pretty fancy places.

Unless you're walking into play at some kind of elite private club that has strict dress codes, I wouldn't change a thing.

I take lessons at a private golf club that costs like $40k a year in dues (prior coach works there now so I am allowed to show up for him) and I roll up in there with my full arm sleeve out in the summer, idgaf. Might some old crusty 70yo man stare me down? Maybe. But... unless he's going to pay me to cover it up, he can keep on looking.

While I'm not a big fan of tattoos in general, I couldn't care less whether someone's tattoos are exposed on a golf course or not. Then again, as long as they play quickly, I couldn't care less about anything having to do with someone else's appearance or attire on a golf course. If they play slow (and are ahead of me) everything about them will make me hate them.

Everyone in the world under 35 has tattoos, if golf has an issue with it , that will be a problem

I am not a fan of tatoos but do not object if anyone else has them on the golf course. I am 68 and as a young kid in the 50's on the beach in Atlantic CIty the only people with tatoos were old sailors who were covered with them and they looked like wrinkled newspaper. I never got over it but I am sure the technology is better today than in the 1920's and 1930's.

This is pretty much how I fee. If they are not what any reasonable person (fewer and fewer these days) would consider offensive. Fine by me. I do not have any, but I have seen plenty that are awesome. Even if they are gross, out of line or distasteful. I probably will just think the guy is an idiot but not say anything.

I could care less whether a person has a tattoo or not. I think in all my years of playing, I have only asked one person about his tattoo. A guy who used to play in one of my tournament leagues was paired with me and I asked him "What is that tattoo on your leg?" His comment was pretty priceless...." A mistake ".

The guys I generally play golf with, 2 different clubs and 2 tournament leagues, probably would never say anything to anyone about any visible tattoos unless the tattoo was strange or something totally out of the ordinary.

Ok I see how you picked your screen name then---- Like I said years ago when this thread started I have a couple and have no problem at all with anyone no matter how many or few they have. And like you I could care less what anyone else thinks about that or anything else I do

LOL Zig wanna hear something funny? A lot of these crusty old farts around here after momma passes away get tats and either a Mustang convertible or a Mazda Miata convertible to impress the young gals. Also if they have any hair left at all they try to grow it long. Not judging because I could give 2 hoots less but I think it is funny.

I have plenty of tattoos because I enjoy art and having it on me. I'm also a +1 hcp that belongs to a private club. I would never want to be associated with anyone or any club that looks down on people for being different then them. Diversity is a beautiful thing.

I agree with you 110%----- I used to have hair down to my mid back in a pony tail and self righteous people used to look down on me for that----- I have absolutely no use for self righteous judging people and I am the type of person that tends to get along with anyone

Heh I was an active musician in the Vegas & LA punk rock scenes for about 20 years. All this just comes with the territory.
