Is anyone still playing multiple fairway woods

I don't but have been thinking about switching recently.

Been struggling to hit the hybrid consistently, off the tee and ground, while my 3 wood is easy as anything from both.

Problem is I haven't hit or even seen a 5 wood in someone's bag for ages. Might hit the bay and see if I can find something to have a go with.

Other option is of course a driving iron - tough decisions all round!

I have D 3hl and the 3hy 4hy, but I might go back to a 7w and remove the 2 hybrids. This way I can add another wedge or two, as I play 52/58, but my pw is 44 at the moment.

Driver: still looking.....
4 Wood: Kamui Pro TP-XF 17.5° + Fujikura Speeder Evolution VI FW70x @ 42 1/2".

7 Wood: Kamui Pro TP-XF 22.5° + Fujikura Speeder Evolution VI FW80x @ 41 3/4".

Wedges: Callaway Jaws Forged 50°/55°/60° + KBS C-Taper
Putter: SeeMore SB1 + Accra FX300.

In my experience, nearly everyone still carries a 3w and 5w unless they're on this forum or are pro golfer.
Haha... Count me in the 3w and 5w group with just 3 wedges, struggle with 3w off the deck, much more confidence in 18* 5 wd

After years of struggling and playing without fairway woods, I finally learned how to properly hit them (better ball position) and now I carry two of them.

I had already reduced to 12 clubs before adding the fairways, so I don't really feel any need to use them unless the conditions are perfect.

Cobra Bio Cell+ 3-4w set to 13.5* as a 250yd second option off the tee

Cobra Bio Cell+ 5-7w set to 16* as my 235yd longest option off the deck

I am on the fence between a 5 wood vs a 19 degree Ben Hogan VKTR hybrid. I hit the 5 wood looooong but have a tough lowering the flight of the ball. Whereas the Hybrd I can easily hit ‘stinger’ type shots.

My other fairway wood is a Ping I25 14 degree wood. This is really my second driver on those tight fairways.

I concur on the i25 set to 14* which also set the face open: me being a drawer.

I do kind of miss it for being long off the tee but my steelhead xr is versatile off the fairway and rough.

I see more 5 woods on the pga tour than at my local club or local am tourneys. I personally play

Driver

5wood 17.5 turned down to 16.5

20 degree driving iron

4-pw

I hardly ever hit the wood. If the hole is too tight for driver i hit the driving iron. Might go to a 17 and 20 degree hybrid since i get along with them.

My bag changed over the summer and now I’m:

12* mini driver

16.5* 4 wood

5 wood of unknown loft (Nickent GH Hyperforged of which I can’t find the specs)

4-pw

Here is why I have my bag set up this way: my minidriver gives me maximum consistent distance, with a regular driver too often I’d hit a big slice and lose 30 yards. My 4 wood finds fairways. My five wood fills the gap between the 4 iron and the 4 wood and it launches high - it’s also easier to hit than a 3 iron. I also really only have one “shot” with the 5 wood since I hit it the least. I could probably do without it honestly since the yardage gap it fills doesn’t come up that often - next year I’m hoping to rebuild my irons from the wedges up so we’ll see what happens then I guess.

I occasionally try hybrids in lieu of fairway woods but simply don't see any advantage. So currently I'm in my usual, boring, conventional configuration of driver/3w/5w then my irons and wedges.

My driver is the popular loft of 10.5 but my 3w is 16 degrees and 42-1/2" long while my 5w is 19 degrees and 42". So not as long-and-strong as most fairways today. They are both compact headed fairway clubs not oversized driver replacements.

I do own a 19° and 22° pair of hybrids. But they languish in the Closet Of Unwanted Clubs.

I use a 3 and 5 wood and couldn't be happier.

Similar to your thoughts I use the 3 as another club off the tee and my 5 wood is much better than a 20* hybrid. it just flies higher, farther, and lands softer than my hybrid did.

I still carry a 23* hybrid as a 4 iron is not a good option for me.

I was a 4w and 7w guy for years ... but since finding Cally Apex hybrids that changed things

I am going 3w (16.5) and 5w (19*) ... both adjustable. Makes it ideal for tweaking for different courses and conditions

3 and 5 in sig. Could not hit a hybrid for the life of me. The F7 with the rails is pretty much a rescue club as well :)

if you hate hybrids .. don't be afraid of 7w and 9w

I have an old Cally steelhead 9w and it's easy peasy .. and way less hooky than most hybrids

I've been throwing around the idea of a 5 wood/3 wood setup as my 4 iron becomes better and better. I still hate hitting those out of the rough though. They're just very circumstantial clubs, I don't know that they're as useful for players of my skill level. I hardly use a 3 wood off the tee, I'm not disciplined enough.
