Is anyone still playing multiple fairway woods

I have a 13* 3 wood, 16.5* 4 wood and 21* 7 wood in the bag. Love this setup. The 7 wood is super versatile and great for bringing it in high and soft instead of trying to manipulate a 4i. The 13* goes as far as possible off the deck and the 4 wood fits perfectly in between the other 2.

I used to do this with a 3 deep, 5 deep and 7w .. good combo

stopped off at my local shop to use the simulator (foresight) to get a better understanding of what the 5 wood is capable of. I hit 5i, 4 utility 2 utility and my 3 wood that I currently play but also hit the new 5 wood (titleist 909 F2 18.5deg)

though the Srixon U45s tend to launch High I have a low low shaft in them Aldila Rip Alpha 105 Hybrid shafts so it flattens out the flight a little.

Based off of my current rusty swing being the 5i (Z745) carried 200 yards with a roll out of about 12 yards, the 23 deg Utility carry about 215/220 and have a roll out of about 18 yards, the 5 wood carried 225 with a 12 yard roll out and the 18deg utility carried 235 with a 15-20 yard roll out. the 3 wood is a beast and carries about 255 with a 20 yard roll out.

I think I will find a shaft that is a little more stable than the current Stiff Voodoo that came with it and give it a go on days that are not to windy as it does launch higher and has a steeper decent and more spin so im hoping it can hold a green better than the 4(23deg) utility

I love doing a google search about a topic and finding a thread I already started.

And who just bought another baffler? Oh lord the money I've spent over the years buying the same clubs in circles.

I am also playing your setup. (generally speaking) I’ve got F9 3-4W at 15.5° and F9 Tour at 19°. Feeling your pain, over the years, I’ve owned three BiO Cell+ 5-7 woods & an F6 Baffler. Cobra’s stock shaft offerings over the years were hit & miss. Currently, I’m quite happy with HZRDUS Smoke in the fairways.

I’ve got a similar setup. Newly acquired F8 standard at 15.5 and F6+ Baffler at 19. I’m seriously considering phasing in a Cobra 7 wood to replace my 4 iron, which would bring me up to 3 fairway woods (though a cobra hybrid might also work).

Do you find the F9 tour is a good replacement for the F6 Baffler? It seems like a very similar club, and at some point, I’ll probably need to replace my Baffler due to wear and tear.

I play 2 fairway woods, and while I'm a decently long hitter, I've started to realize how important position is off the tee, which is why I'm starting to game a 3 iron also and fewer wedges.

Working on essentially ensuring that I'm 110-130 out every hole, at the closest. Rather hit my 5 wood 240-250, or my 3 iron 225-230, then have weird 3/4 shots of around 65 yards.

The F9 Tour and Baffler have a very similar feel and sound, performance is the same. Generally a straighter ball fight for me, but that could be the shaft too. Of course, the F9 does not have the front-back weight adjustability. I had been playing the Baffler weight in the back, but at 19° I don’t really notice a difference. You might look at F8+ as well, I never got a chance to demo that one as much but has a similar profile.

Check out the F8 22° hybrid to bridge your gap. I stopped carrying a 4 iron years ago, when I started carrying 5 wood. Would love to try the F9 7-8 wood though.

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of genetics and the tyranny of high swing speeds. Blessed is he who, in the name of scorecards and handicaps shepherds the weak through the valley of double bogeys. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of greens. And I will strike downward upon thee ball with great humility and furious loft those who attempt to poison and destroy my partners. And you will know I play multiple fairway woods when you see my bag.

Thanks! Yeah, I could use something to slot in between my 5 wood and my 5 iron. It’s not a critical need, as I don’t have a ton of shots that are in that 10 yard range, but it is a gap.

I’ll probably hit the 7-8 vs the hybrid and see which one fills the gap better.

Driver -> 3W (14) -> 5W (19) -> 3-iron (21)

Been this way for years. Occasionally mess around with a driving iron but always come back the 5-wood. When I'm swinging well I can hit low bullets with the 5 wood pretty easily, and obviously the high ball it's designed for, so it's very versatile. It's basically a par 5 second shot club and another option off the tee. Never had a use for a hybrid.

I have a 5 wood and 3 hybrid.

On full shots they pretty much do the same thing.

The 5 wood is just a pleasure to hit off the tee and off good lies. Consistently long and straight.

The hybrid is much more versatile. Extremely workable. Great in bad lies and tricky shots to get a ball back into play.

I should probably de-loft the 5W and improve the gapping.

I typically play Driver, 3+wood, 4-wood, 7-wood (13.5, 16.5, 21.0). Sometimes I'll swap in my 2-iron.

But I really love this setup. I'm iffy with driver, so I love having a power 3 wood. The 4 wood is the perfect fairway finder. And the 7 wood is magic -- high shots from the fairway into long 4s and 5s, and unbeatable out of the rough.

I had a 15yd gap between my 5 iron and 7 wood so I picked up a 9 wood today. I play in a scramble tomorrow so we will see how it goes but on the sim it was spot on for my gap. I am old school never hit a hybrid before today. I was going back and forth 9w and 4 hybrid the 9 was more consistent and better height. So now I have 1,3,5,7,9 woods I must be getting old lol.
