It's not looking good for making the cut. It looks, at least IMO, that he's trying to hard. It's sure not the same swing we saw at the Hero. If he keeps going at it this hard...........well I don't wish any harm, just saying............ :scare2:

He is definitely proving that the back is fine, he is putting everything into those swings. What I don't understand is why?

Surely he doesn't need to try and knock the cover off the ball, just dial it back a bit, find the fairway, find the green, find the bottom of the cup.......easy.

Because distance is one of the most valuable golfing skills. It is one of the primary factors for why he was so good in the first place. If you want him to hit it like Andrew Landry or Brian Gay, that is who he will end up playing like.

Absolutely. The game isn’t played that way anymore. If he isn’t long he doesn’t compete.

Phil's making a big move today. I'd like to see Tiger make the cut I don't think it's gonna happen. He just doesn't have it yet.

I'm not asking him to do anything.

I couldn't give a s*** what he does. Mine was simply a question as to why he doesn't dial it back a bit and keep the ball in play, a bit like everyone says Phil should.

Is he even capable of dialling it back? I don't know.

Who's Andrew Landry?

I'm not asking him to do anything.

I couldn't give a s*** what he does. Mine was simply a question as to why he doesn't dial it back a bit and keep the ball in play, a bit like everyone says Phil should.

Is he even capable of dialling it back? I don't know.

He doesn’t dial it back and keep it in play because it doesn’t work that way. Distance and accuracy are not inversely correlated. Swinging slower will not increase accuracy keeping all else constant.

So you say but I know that if I could be bothered, and I can't, I could find video of Butch Harmon talking about how on the range Phil would dial the driver back and hit 'straight' shots and how Butch would beg Phil to take that swing to the course, knowing full well that he wouldn't.

Sure enough Phil would go out there and swing as hard as he could, spraying it all over and in the studio (Sky) the presenters would laugh at Butch and his exasperation.

I'll take Butch's word for it thanks.

Is tiger using twisty face technology? Or did he stick with the M2 from last year which is producing a smooth 42% accuracy through 15 holes.

Sg off the tee 24th, i think he is driving it just fine
