Tiger today made only 32' of putts which showed a weakness in his iron play.

 

he also messed up on the par5s with errant drives where i could see he was swinging a bit too hard..

 

if he can resolve these issues he should do well....

To be honest, yesterday's round did more to get me thinking that this comeback might be for real than anything he had done previously. To shoot a 72 on the South while hitting the ball as poorly as he did has to be encouraging.

 

For all the talk of Tiger's "A" game, the thing that really separated him and Jack from everyone else was the fact that they always found a way to post a respectable score when they didn't have their best stuff.

No love for Tony Finau on this topic? Dude's a gamer and is a threat every time he tees it up. I love his game. I'm looking for Rose to go low today. His game has been very sharp lately. I thought Tiger would finish -2 in the first round, but seeing that this is his first full field event in a year, and with all that's transpired since then, you have to take par and be happy with it. Looking forward to a good tournament this weekend, crossing my fingers that both Tiger and Lefty are in the mix.

He caught a couple short irons and a sand wedge a little chunky and came up short on those holes. He finished well though with a near ace on 16 :)

I will not be surprised if JDay fizzles away to a middle of the pack guy. Dude drives the ball all over the map - not even the holy Twistface can help him. Also Wouldn't really be surprised if he retires at a young age.
