Adam Scott Falls From OWGR Top 50

With this weeks updated rankings Adam Scott has fallen outside of the OWGR Top 50 for the first time since 2010 following last weeks MC at Pebble Beach.

 

His status in this years US Open and WGCs is now up in the air and will depend on how he fares in his following starts. Adam will be playing both this week at Riviera and next week at the Honda. His putting continues to hurt him, despite being THIRD on the Tour this season in SG Tee-Green.

Yeah, I never really hear about Adam Scott anymore since he's not in contention. He should have at least two majors but putting has always been a weakness.

I was watching the PGA Tour Live coverage and Adam was in the early morning featured group for the last round at Pebble. I'm not sure whether he's found himself a new coach because he was rehearsing an outside takeaway, and rotated hard left during the downswing in his rehearsal swing. Then, in his actual tournament swing he took the club back in his takeaway, paused, then resumed all the way to the top before starting his transition. I've never seen Adam do anything like that in a tournament. He's obviously trying to get certain feels and maybe did it due being so far back from the cut line with a round to go.

Meh, just goes to show, a beautiful, textbook swing ain't all it's cracked up to be......

I'm sure he's enjoying married life with a couple of little ones running around, plus he's probably getting a bit of surf!

yup his short game is the real culprit. very basic, almost scared to use creativity

Lots of media reports he was out of sorts because of the birth of his second child, while that may be the case seems he has lost confidence all together. Hits it long still but not nearly as straight and his ball striking has really suffered last 18 months. As everyone knows on here an average putter becomes good when you give yourself great looks over and over. He is consistently 30 ft plus away it seems. And as much attention as his “poor” putting gets to me the weakest point in his bag are wedges. Both from the fairway and around the greens. I’m no expert but don’t think it would hurt for him to find a swing coach again just for another set of eyes.

He's playing 4 of the next 5 tournaments so that will give a better indication where he is at.

I was surprised to hear an announcer at AT&T to say that Bubba Watson was 117 in the world. I thought he was top 10 just last year.

Scotty has been a frustrating figure to watch since the Autumn of 2016. When he won back to back events at the start of 2016 he then seemed to spend the majority of that season in and around the Top 10 but not winning again. Since then he has seriously fallen away. To be fair, the ball striking during that period was so good it would have been hard to sustain it but he can't rely on other parts of his game hence the backward steps he has been taking.

Most of the other top OWGR guys are in the low 20s. Some guys are in the high 20s like Fleetwood who seems to play every damn weekend.

 

His fall in the rankings has nothing to do with "playing so few events". It's because he's been real bad since the PGA Champ.
