99% here can only go by what they see on tv, maybe have gone to a tournament, but unless there's some kind of real life interaction it seems like a very hard judgement to make.

Interesting list. I'd like to think I've been consistent in speaking positively of Vijay, but again he's the best guy you'll ever meet. If you're in his circle of trust, he's the nicest most thoughtful, and takes the time to teach new pros how to be professional at lest used too. Never played with Tiger, but have talked to him a few times when I've seen him out at the club, and it's been nothing but positive every interaction with him. Staff says the same thing.

Montgomerie gets a bad rap. Played in two corporate outings he hosted for Starwood hotels. Very engaging guy who was really liked by everyone. During competition a different fellow perhaps.

I'd have to disagree about Curtis Strange. I met him a couple times back in the late 1970's at Pro-ams and fundraising dinners and he was a really nice guy. On the course at a tournament he was always all business and pretty gruff and stand-offish. A buddy of mine had the pleasure of sitting next to him on an airliner, back in the days before they all had NetJets sponsors or their own jets, He said the had a really nice conversation.

On another note, I have heard that, away from the golf course, Trevino is like Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde. So who knows. everybody can have a bad day. but some have bad years.

Arrogant or self assured? A lot of elite sportsmen and women come across as arrogant but in fact are either in the zone, actually shy or simply believing in their own talents?

However Curtis Strange and Monty are in a class of their own. Norman, Player and Peter Thompson get an honourable mention. Thompson used to like to boast how much he was worth to lesser players and journalists. Crass
