Titleist's new TS 2 & TS 3 driver - shot @ 2018 US Open

I watched the Spaniard grouping tee off on the 1st during my lunch and caught Jon Rahm stealing Bello's driver walking off the first tee and taking a solid look at it. His expression seemed like he was impressed (Bello had also just piped it).

JT just hit one 422 yards on 18. Must be the real deal haha

He would have hit it at least 423 yds. if the driver wasn’t so spinny and several releases behind in technology.

It was longest drive that Justin has ever hit in a PGA tour event! Not sure if he was using one of the Titleist drivers or not. Anyone know?

Yes he was. I was thinking great marketing opportunity for the new driver!

Not sure the shaft details but the one I saw had a tensei ck pro orange in it. If they could offer this is 70 grams and get correct swingweight the TS3 could be awesome if they actually found a way to cut spin.

I like the shape of a 450 cc. Still using the C16 driver. Only negative is glossy silver finish, but longer than any production offerings to date.

There’s a new concept driver coming

Hopefully irons as well, those were excellent. Still better than any of their non forged production clubs. Much longer and better feeling than TMB, AP3, AP1.

Surprised the Concept driver didn’t precede the TS series like the C16 was 8 months before the 917s

Based on the article on the home page about the Titleist guys that have switched to the TS series woods this week, it looks like some higher stock head lofts as compared to the 917 models. Also about half and half on the TS3 vs TS2. The higher lofts may be a reflection of spin numbers being reduced with this line.

anyone else feel like they're kinda just...meh?

the shape looks like others mentioned very callaway rogue-ish -- but otherwise it's just simple. i know folks will like it for sure - very intrigued how the TS3 sounds. also, if the rogue 130 platinum is the stock shaft, a LOT of guys will flock to this driver.

Titleist is always kind of Meh which is a good thing to me. They go for classic rather than flashy which suits a lot of people. I’ll take this over turbulators any day and I love the last two Ping drivers performance wise.

And you’d be in the minority, which is why titleist is becoming all but irrelevant in the driver discussions. It’s simple, that “tech” your criticizing is doing something, that’s why all those folks are playing those other brands, and that’s why the launch numbers end up being so much better on the competitors heads when you go try them all out.

Titleist needs to step up their game. I have no clue what these 2 new drivers are supposed to be. They look exactly the same as the drivers from 10 years ago. Remember those days, when titleist keept trying to tell everyone that 460cc heads were no good for players, and a good solid 250cc head was better......because they didn’t have one.

They don’t exactly have a track record of innovation, and they market that slowness as “pureness” to convince you they don’t need to innovate IMO.

Then they came out with the 905R which is still revered on here as a great driver. Interesting thing here as well is that we don't know anything about the innovation in this product at this stage either.

Meanwhile, back in the real world, Justin Thomas hit a 400+ yard drive at the US Open with his TS driver, and even outdrove DJ and his tech-laden TM driver.

If the equipment is so bad, how do they always seem to be the starting point for many of the best players in the game. Those players seem to have won lots of tournaments with this inferior, limiting equipment. Titleist for years it seems to have made the equipment to be in the golf market to sell their balls.. Hard to see how they ever pay for their R&D with their sales volume. Since the 975D and 905 it seems their goal is only to improve over the previous model, not necessarily be better than other OEMs. Probably the best period of golf ever was achieved with these inferior lack of tech clubs..

I disagree as any driver that is properly fitted will be within 5 yards of each other. Titleist heads definitely have been designed to spin more so proper fitting is more work than the other clubs who have lower cg out of the box.

I currently play a Callaway Rogue SZ because I’m a high spin player and I don’t want to pay the extra money to find the perfect spin numbers with a 917. I have in the past with the 910 and it was just as long as anything else. My swing has changed over the years so the shaft I had in the 910 doesn’t work in any driver for me anymore. Looking forward to seeing if the TS3 is less spinny out of the box.
