Titleist's new TS 2 & TS 3 driver - shot @ 2018 US Open

Can’t wait to try this one. As a Titleist Staffer I did not switch to the current head as it had a significant ball speed loss to the previous model.

Classic troll, I've seen it all brother.

I think you misread this post BB. He is simply stating he didn't switch to the 917 over the 915... he's not referring to the TS line.

I see no troll here... however it is surprising that he lost distance from the 917 versus the 915 (that's a first).

I picked up +6 mph from my M1 440 with the 917 D3. I realise you are comparing 915 to 917 not the M1 but it just goes to show there isn't one great club suited to everyone, I guess.

Someone can clarify for me if I'm way off here.

I dont understand someone not liking the way the club looks as a deterrent to buying the club. From the pictures I have see the only difference when standing over the club is the color scheme and the triangle flipped.

What does it matter what the bottom of the club looks like when your not looking down at it. If the club performs for you and you like the looks of the club from the crown, they could put a picture of Bozo on there and it wouldn't matter to me.

It’s mostly just preference because it “looks cool”. That’s how I thought about equipment prior to actually improving.

That's straight impossible... sorry. Unless you had two completely different shafts... impossible.

Was told by our Titleist rep that the TS stands for Titleist Speed (stemming from the Titleist Speed Project) and it's been a goal to get the club faster and compete more with the big driver guys. This conversation was preceded by him taking 7 of our stock 917 drivers (no one has touched these with Ping and Callaway next to them in the shop) and replacing them with more wedges and balls.

We'll see but seem to have admitted to needing to catch up with driver technology.

Never thought there were any Titleist driver lovers in this forum until now LOL.

I know of a couple who I trust in their opinions, give straight answers and play Titleist drivers. Guys that don’t believe in the next hype driver and are legit in what they say

Ian Poulter just posted some Trackman numbers. Look pretty damn good to me.

"Been working to put the new @Titleist TS3 driver in the bag. The facts of testing are more speed, higher launch and less spin. Which means more carry distance with a good landing angle and still rolling out. Not bad for a 42 year old with spaghetti arms. 1f609.png"

Oh I think if we had a site-wide golf outing, you'd see Titleist as well represented in every single category and drivers would be no exception.

Hahaha. Ian Poulter sucks at golf. Look at that high spin and low smash factor. I mean 2400 rpm and 48 smash. That's not even close to what everyone on this forum gets. Somebody get this guy a senior flex shaft. What's the WRX average here these days? 1600 rpm? 55 smash factor?

Does anyone know what his previous drivers’ stats were?

Would be nice to see the comparison.

2400? Cue the high spin comments in 3... 2... 1...

If these Titleist drivers don’t average below 1600 on the high side, they will be considered high spin monsters around these parts.

Anyone want to place any bets on Poults driving distance when this goes in the bag? My money is his distance won't go up or down more than 3 yards... Just like all the other guys whose distance stays right around what it was with the previous model. They only exception being the Nike staffers who ditched their drivers as soon as humanly possible - they saw significant jumps. But good job Ian. Company man.

Poulter spinning that thing so high! Call me when the spin rate gets down to a respectable double digits.

He hits down on the ball.. I tend to believe him if he says that he lowered his spin. Most tour guys are in that 2400-2600 range on tour and not chasing super low spin like most WRXers. The difference is that fairways are more important than chasing that extra 5 yards.

Personally I like to see my spin rate at 12. To each their own.

I wonder if Titelist's loyal customer base will react positively to these releases. The sole of the clubs are visually busier (in terms of graphic/visible "tech") and the marketing jargon is something of a shift towards that of the other OEM's.

Could they view it as "selling out" or is it a necessary move to try and secure their immediate financial future and place in the minds of the golfing public?

Interesting times ahead I think.

I feel like it's a little bit of both right? They'll have to catch up to other OEMs but I sure am hoping it further secures a good financial future for Titleist. I couldn't imagine a golf world without Titleist offering a full variety of products

I have always wondered why so many people who do not play Titleist products have so much interest in the release and technology behind any new stuff? Especially since it is most likely to not change the outcome of what is in the bag anyway.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Tiger has a negative angle of attack as well.

Wouldn't be surprised if he was. The tour average last I checked was negative AOA
