G400 Max...Holy Cow!!!

After gaming every head under the sun with too many shafts, I am coming to make my home with the G400MAX.  I have the 55r Alta and a 6.5 Hzrdus Smoke Green for when I want to swing hard.  Just big buttery high straight bombs, I play the 10.5 down to 9.5 and eliminate the left side of the fair.  I do nothing and it just goes, and straight, too funny this club...  And I can play it in a reg flex, helps the elbows :).

This year I tried Epic, Sim2, & Cobra RAD with little to no success. Picked up a G400 and for me it's been great. It's loud, but I will put it with that for straight and long.

Still have my max. Might get a new shaft but haven’t thought about a club head

I bought a Ping G400 Max in a 9 degree head and came with the Tour Stiff. Mine is a 10.5 and I was using the regular flex Ping Tour shaft. I used to have the regular Alta CB and that feel like a wet spaghetti now. I set mine to the lowest settings and still find it to be spinning a lot. I played around the 9 this afternoon and set it to the lowest settings. It dramatically lowered my spin and I was getting more out of it than my 10.5 head. I was averaging 245 on my old one and the new one got me to 260. lol 

I tried the lowest settings on the 9 and the stiff shaft but it was launching too low. Had some fun with this experiment and will test it out more. But it seems like the 9 will be the head I will be using next season.

Currently playing G410LST, 9, with Ventus Blue Velocore 6s. However, considering options for a little more spin. I'm in the 2200ish range, ~4 or 5 AoA, launch at 13 or 14. My misses kill spin real quick though, wouldn't mind getting a hair more spin for control on the course. Ball speeds can get up to 155, but realistically I'm closer to 150 (maybe even less) on course. 

 

Debating ordering a G425 Max 9 head and sticking with Ventus Blue, or keeping my current setup and just getting a G400 Max, 9, with the Tour 65 S, comparing both setups head to head and swapping them out of the bag as needed. What does WRX think? All three???? 😅

Ordered a Ping G400 Max as it is one of the drivers that I do regret selling but it did spin to much for me at that time.  My original G400 Max was a 10.5 so ordered one with a 9 degree loft this time.  Will put it head to head with my Ping G425 Max.

I currently am using a 10.5 head and I played it on the lowest loft possible and it's alright. I bought a 9 head and I loved it. The only problem is it had a scratch on the crown that I cannot get over with so I sold it. I did spin lower for me and got more distance without sacrificing the forgiveness. I set the 9 to lowest settings and it gave me the least amount of spin at 2200 average.

That's what I'll be doing as well.  I currently have my G425 9* set to 7.5* (big minus) and it's perfect...just not a fan of the sound even with 3 grams of hotmelt.  I can live with it if it beats the new G400 Max incoming.  If not, the G425 will sell easy.

I almost bought a g425 max last summer. A buddy was selling it to me super cheap. Three shots at the range I gave it back to him. lol Sound bothered me so much.

I do love the G425 Max fairways woods, but haven't been tempted to change from my G400 LST, the G400 Max and I didn't get along well. The LST is still long and accurate for me.

I keep finding myself looking for a g400 lst a year after selling it. Still, g400 is the best driver I had ever had. Never knew my lover till I let it go. 
 

I went to the g425, but I couldn’t stand the feel and sound of it. Traded it in for the TSI3. Recently purchased a g425 5 wood, it’s up on BST now. Too spinny for me.
 

The 425 hybrids though are freakin money.

I played the regular G400 before, like three years ago. I play the MAX right now. As far as I can remember, G400 was amazing. I liked how small the head is but forgiveness is there. I also liked the sound and feel of the G400 than the Max. But Max is just too easy to use.

Get one, smaller profile, a little quieter. Money club just like the Max and LST models.

Do you mind sharing how much hot melt and where inside the head it was added to help with the sound?

So I do it a little different than the standard way. I have a craft hot glue stick/gun that is super cheap. I use the hole where the weight is screwed in and I inject about 4-6 grams of the liquid hot glue stick. It cools and hardens. It won’t move. I screw the weight back in. Really quiets it down. You might need a lighter weight from ping if you don’t want a few extra grams in the head. I prefer just slightly heavier so it’s ok for me.
