What they are doing is the very definition of guerilla marketing. And yes - selling out in this case feeds the buzz and drives more sales than just selling a sandwich normally would. If the sandwich got one good review that would be one thing. But all you see on social media is pictures of sold out signs. Pictures of lines. Pictures of the sandwich. Oh wait now the news is covering it with b-roll feed of the lines. And the sold out signs.

Who is keeping the master list of horrible thread fights? Popeye chicky sando is definitely going on that list.

Let's all agree that people are pounding the chicky sando from Popeye.

What's not clear is whether Popeye knew demand would be great and intentionally under-ordered for the buzz, or whether he really had no idea demand would be this high. This is not a world in which I tread.

But just because it's great _hashTag content_ doesn't mean it was intentional.

Also, chickens are great for breakfast. They are absolutely the best breakfast food, with one caveat : AS LONG AS THEY'RE STILL IN THE G D SHELL!!!!!.

Chicken for breakfast. Absurd.

Definitely was my point. Popeyes didn't have genius marketers that saw this coming and planned this. They lucked into this and they were under-prepared for demand. But what do I know, right? I'm just a consumer.

People can eat whatever the heck they want to, but chicken is not a breakfast food in my house.

I haven't been up to the Gus's Fried Chicken in Greenbelt, but have been meaning to. I went to the original in Memphis a handful of years ago and it was one of the best meals I ever had. This was the night after a bachelor party and the wait was 2 hours to get inside, so I need to confirm if it's actually good or if the circumstances just elevated the taste. Anyone eating at a GD POPEYES over that place is out of their mind.

I didn't know Gus' expanded. I've been to the original.

Been to Prince's Hot Chicken in Nashville, too. That was more to my liking. We hit Gus' before the rush and the wait wasn't bad.

Anyone heard of this place "Winnfield golf" way out in Western Maryland? Like 3 hours from Baltimore. They have a facebook page but not a webpage.

https://www.facebook.com/Winnfield.Golf/

Apparently some dude just turned part of his farm into a golf course. The work jerks played there the other day. Had a good time. $20 for 18 with cart.

The google map page has some pics of it. Not great ones.

I used to make a type of corn bread waffle, with roasted chicken, and I'd make gravy in the chicken pan. Pull the chicken, put it on the waffle, drizzle with gravy. Ridiculous.

Often times, you see it with fried chicken and syrup. That's classic chicken and waffles. I don't totally get that.

Place near me has a chicken sandwich with waffles as the bun, but it's savory.

It's pretty awesome and that is the only way I know how to describe it to you. I thought it was weird until I tried it. Then I understood. I'm a fan of the salt/sweet thing, especially with breakfast (think bacon + syrup) so I love it.

The chicken for breakfast thing was also weird before trying it. I tried CFA's chicken, egg, and cheese sammich on a bagel well over a decade ago and that was all that was needed to confirm that chicken works for breakfast. There's no law that says chickens can only be consumed in shell form before 11am. Come to think of it, chicken parm for breakfast needs to be a thing.

I've never seen a bunch of dudes be so picky about food. Do I even know you all anymore?

While I'm ranting about breakfast, can I throw out there that home fries are NOT hash browns? If I order hash browns from a place and get a plate of diced potatoes, I am not going back there unless there are extenuating circumstances.

I could eat hash browns and fried eggs 8 meals a day. No chicken required.

Don’t know who this Action Bronson fella is, but I could definitely see me eating a chicken sandwich with a waffle bun while watching Ancient Aliens at like 8:30 am. Unless the Premiere League is on, then Ancient is for 1/2 time only.

If a huge, mid 30's white rapper who sounds almost exactly like Ghostface Killa on mic, is a world class pot head, and has an affinity for fine cuisine and wine strikes you as interesting, you should watch. It's a little bit of an acquired taste humor wise, but they certainly make it work. One of the greatest hip hop producers all time, The Alchemist is a frequenter of the show. They have a lot of random interesting celebrity guests as well. They basically sit around eat, get effed up and shoot the ish.

Correct ... farmer, land, bulldozer, golf course ... think clubhouse is still some kinda trailer, may be byob too (don't remember) ... been around 10ish years ... somewhere between Frostburg Grantsville ... it's a blast if youre stopping on the way thru & dont want to get all serious bout your golf

There aint' no Marriott across the street from Prince's Hot Chicken.

Princes and Hattie B's and one more are the big Nashville hot chicken spots. They're all supposed to be good, from what I've heard. Princes is just in a not-great neighborhood.

There was a great article at the Ringer a few years back about eating hot chicken in Nashville. He gets into the whole "eating hot foods" thing in the article. Talks about how the insanity of it is part of the fun.

Any of our resident Excel geniuses - so basically Sully - good with advanced VLOOKUP functions? I use them pretty frequently but never in a case where the data set you are searching has leading data that you want to ignore.

Lets say the dataset you copy into Excel has a field that looks like this:

123 BLUE

124 RED

125 GREEN

126 RED

And the lookup table has the requisite lookup values of each data field.

BLUE 20

RED 30

GREEN 40

Is there a way to tell the lookup cell to ignore the first "3 digits + space" in the data field and *then* lookup that data value in the table? I've tried the * and & wild cards - and the TRIM function it looks like only works for spaces. What I'm doing right now as a workaround is just using the Text to Columns function to breakout the data into two columns. Its really not that time consuming but now this is sort of become a puzzle that I'm trying to solve.
