the fact that the Ryder Cup is only about 5 weeks away should instill some excitement. Over the last decade, it seems like the Ryder Cup has gotten much more competitive and emotional.

I know they're trying to keep an even keel on the course but some of these guys, esp a few of the young ones, look constipated and downright depressed out there. Smith and Wise both look like they need Zoloft. It's not too exciting to watch IMO.

Amanda Balionis asked Tiger what he had to do to prepare for next week's tournament. Tiger said, "Make sure my lifts are clean and solid." Don't mind the crappy putting, make sure you are lifting properly.

 

My original "Captain Obvious" was for Amanda, but I deleted because it did not read that way. Even for Tiger it is hard to admit the huge putting woes. If I remember correctly, he kinda ignored his chipping woes as well.. He will eventually sort it out, but it's painful in the interim..

I think part of what you perceive as being boring is his consistency today. Hasn't gotten much trouble, and when he does he makes great shots to recover. He is just playing a consistent round of golf.

Unfortunately you miss all the other sounds this way. I really wish there was a no commentary option.

 

 

DeChambeau is on a roll. One thing I noticed is that he doesn't seem to favor one club over the other- he just plays golf. Refreshing in a world of "driver guys". It's just one of 14 clubs.

 

If you have surround sound setup properly, all you have to do is mute your center channel. All other ambient telecast sounds will come through.

lol, he really never has stopped. I guess my point was if he stopped his over-analyzing I think he could do a bit better. In my opinion, it takes away from his Raw Talent, but that's just my opinion.

 

Yeah it's a fine line. It's possible that his constant, mild anxiety keeps him in a heightened mental state. But I agree that he may play his absolute best if he were totally relaxed and just let it unfold instead of squeezing the sand so tightly.

No doubt about it. He is playing very consistently. When he does waiver a little he’s done well to get out of the trouble. Doing exactly what needs to be done with a 4 shot lead and nobody has challenged him whatsoever today.

the wow factor that tiger brought was backed up by his great play as well. I am thinking who is the closest to tiger on the PGA tour right now that would bring that excitement. I think Phil brings a little bit different style of excitement, but the passion that tiger brought has been unmatched so far.

Possible the ballspeed was off for sure, but I think the distance tracker is sometimes way off too. Earlier this week the tracker said Tiger carried one 280. The ball rolled zero yards. In fact, it might have gone backwards. Then Shot Tracker confirmed it was a 300+ yard tee shot. So how the hell was the live tracker off by 20 yards? Who knows.
