I think I'll be able to resist the Apex irons as I was a late adopter of the last Apex Pros. Shaping up to be another good release cycle for Callaway. Wonder if they would ever come up with a multi-material driving iron based on the Apex Pro to compliment this lineup.

looks like they took the original Apex hybrid, threw jailbreak in it and a gloss paint job.

 

it looks good, but my hybrids are safe.

Really considering a combo set of 8-PW MB and 4-7 new apex pro. Hopefully they offer the $ taper in an S+ flex

I promised #’s on the Apex Hybrid so here we go. Few caveats:

 

1) Wilson “practice” balls used. Usually produce less ball speed for me by 3mph or so.

 

2) Not a hybrid player and Haven’t swung much lately so forgive any over draw (hook).

 

3) I am naturally low spin so ymmv on spin rate.

 

 

Apex 18* HY

 

 

 

 

I was able to launch high or low, draw or fade...ish, and found it very controlled on most shots. Had a couple of big slingers left but not too bad.

 

All this said I love my driving iron so probably won’t game this... but it’s a beast with playability so you never know.

Not a fan of the no adjustability on the Apex hybrids. I’m going to hold on to my epic hybrid too!
